If you go with that though, ask how many shutter actuations the camera has.

Decent camera, pretty close to what I have. Lenses are what matters, and that kit lens isn't all that. It's definetly my least used lens of all (but it's nice to have the IS.)

I wouldn't bid too high on it.

alright, im just looking for something relatively cheap that could get me better pics. i dont think im experienced to get into film. i barely know what does what haha and know nothing about cameras. i plan on taking pics at shows and concerts a lot. so dark places + movement. kind of like these:

    ai35.tinypic.com_152npxz.jpg

also maybe band promos and stuff. i dont know anything technical and its a little embarrasing lol. anyone have a good place to read up on cameras and stuff?

ken rockwell is a good source, and lurk some photography forums.

Those pics were shot with a fast fisheye, so don't expect your pics to look like that off the bat.

The great thing about dslr's is that when you decide to get a film body you can get them on the cheap and still use most of your lenses (if you shop wisely)

If you want a fisheye, get a nikon. Nikon are the only brand that make a fisheye for their cheaper cameras. Fisheyes are great for concerts, band shots. You really are gonna just have to fork out the cash if you are serious about it. Otherwise you'll just be spending twice the amount later replacing your amateur gear for pro gear.

Check out this site for great band shots, this guy uses alot of remote flash etc.

haha fuck, i dont know what im getting myself into. theres so many lenses and shit. i got the gist of your lenses being more important than the body though. do you think 500 bux could get me started? i can get more lenses down the road. i wasnt really showing pics of what i want exactly, just like what kind of shows i go to and stuff. thanks for the help so far. and sorry for the questions, just want to make sure i know what im getting and stuff

To get a shot like this, im guessing just bump up the exposure till the subject is well lit and overexpose the sky?

Nope, she is subtly, but very well lit using flash or other light. That way even though the shot looks over exposed, she is not.

Some architecture stuff I took recently in Montreal. Got a little obsessed with B&W.

I think B&W is so cliche to try to make your photos look good, but I admit some of your shots look nice. I like the 1st and 3rd the most.
