cry all you want. this topic has been covered a million times over. graf is still in the streets going strong go to any major city and you can see that. i think your looking entirely too far into it. people are making money doing what they like to do and STILL painting illegally. i dont see what the big issue is? if someone likes a canvas for whatever reason its up to them. some people like landscapes some like things with a different edge. that isnt killing graf you said it yourself what is, people biting and being unorginal. but at the same time if you look around there is a million different writers and for the most part nothing looks the same, maybe some are more similar to others because of what the fad is at the time but that goes with anything, undergound hip hop, punk rock ect.. things change thats the name of the game. art is never ever ever entirely orginal and that goes back to the beginning of art in general. everything evolved from something or someone. graf isnt original its been going on for so long now that to say oh well your selling graf on a canvas thats stupid cause its a srteet art is retarded. so no one should ever paint anything other than a canvas? just walls or trains right? and if you do a canvas you shouldnt be able to sell it to someone that appriciates or enjoys the artform? what about the people much like henery chalfant that documented street graf but never himself did it? was he wrong in doing so because he wasnt a writer and was an outsider? i just fail to see how this is the demise of a culture that grows everyday in the streets. the canvas shit is sooooo small that it doesnt even show up as a blip on the radar as opposed to 100000 throwups or 2000 trains. so what is an art fag exactly? someone who ONLY paints canvas? what about cope? what about the numerous other active writers that do both? why put yourself in a bubble thats so self destructive. im sure you will give me 2000 reasons why im stupid and im a toy or whatever else you can think of to justify your reason like graf will somehow die and there will be no more people writing on things. thats just insane to think of cause it will never ever ever happen dude. there are more writers now than ever incase you havent noticed that. so unless your some kinda king or you have been smashin shit since the 80's you got no room to school people on culture. the people that have been doing so ARE doing canvas work now. listen to an interview. i bet you wouldnt call any of them art fags at least not to their face.
youre not understanding me at all. if someone has been writing for 30 years and have earned their stripes, they earn the right to sell their "graffiti". by graffiti dying, i dont mean canvases are to blame, but they are a big part of the problem. kids are seeing people sell their canvases, then they want to start writing because they figure they can make money off of graffiti. something that was once underground is now turning into a fucking cash cow. people are doing graffiti for the money. i bet 90% of the people on this forum dont even understand what graffiti truly is. but im getting into a whole different topic. as i said, if people have earned there stripes, and literally lived for graffiti and were willing to die for or because of it, then they have earned the right to make money off of what they do. its these kids that have been in the game for 5 years and think that they have the right to profit off a culture theyve barely taken part that is pure fucking non sense. i would and have called people art fags to their face as long as they deserved it. ive been threatened and even fought by these art fags because i hurt their fealings, anybody who disrespects this culture gets their shit toyed out as long as im breathing.

graffiti is finally being seen for what it is....true art...isnt that what we want...for people to stop chasin us when were paintin a peice and instead we can stand there paint a mural and get paid....and then offcourse there is still graffiti on the side but once you get older you releize that getting in trouble for bombing is just not worth it specially if your tryin to get a job because graffiti is not a joke....they fuck you over hard for it so why not become succesful doing what you love??your arguement doesnt compare your trying to look back at the 80's and 90's and say graffiti is underground blah blah blah but graffiti is not underground anymore graffiti is one of the largest art forms out there now so you should be happy with where graffiti is goin bro.
