Exactly, this forum is really only good to teach you the bare minimums. after you learn bars graffiti is up to you, It just lame to see some of the people on the forum writing graffiti to showcase it on the internet and not for there own personal art progression
i just dont think anyone should start painting until they've been sketching for a few months. i mean, i have well and truly been out of the loop as far my local scene goes, but i've been sketching like crazy, and i dont really see the point of putting something up that i'm not happy with because shits just going to get crossed out.
i wish there were more writers where i live though, i rarely see anything more then a couple tags, and if you really go exploring, a few throwies, none of which are any good.
then its up to you to hire and inspire people. scour your town for talent. put em down with a crew and destroy. you'l be alone for a while so you'l have bomb 3 times as hard. some people need the inspiration of seeing someone else up.
It's pretty disappointing when you see there are a few new posts in the Toy Bomb/Pieces section and when you go look it's just some wack ass Crayola marker filled throwie with a 'forcefield'. I'm interested in seeing what more people on the Toy level are painting and coming up with. It's kinda' fun to watch the progression. I don't think confidence has anything to do with the sketching and shit. It's graffiti. Sooner or later you gotta' pick up a can and do some work. I'm still not confident in my sketchwork. I still go out and try to attain knowledge, experience and skill through persistance.
i think you need to sketch until you have a style that is actually recognised by other writers as competent. when i was painting my hardest, i started out with fuck all can control, and while my shit was pretty sloppy, the handful of better writers i knew saw that there was at least a tiny bit of style buried under the messiness hahaha. its inevitable that you'll get crossed out, but slowly it gets less and less. then again you get toys who will go over anything, but they end up getting fucked up
Ok, I didn't ask for people to debate over the requirements that have to be reached before painting... I just asked why so many people post hand drawn pictures in two threads made for painted art, while there are two threads devoted to everything hand drawn...
I remember when I first came here, I'd do my throws in the bb thread and people would say, go to the throwies thread. Then I went there and people told me to go to the bb thread. Who gives a fuck, really?
Hater- Painting is so much more different then sketching in a book, while yes i do agree you should be able to draw basic graffiti in a black book before going out, you need to practice can control and general productivity in a practice spots with real spray paint. You can have certain styles that you wont be able to paint so you need to be working on both on a consistent basis to make ends meet. I agree with the being up to par with other writers befor going out to spots but you gotta come from somewhere yaknow? The toy-Noone paints in the toy forum and if they do they dont post it on here. Once you get past a straight letters its all up to you, I stopped posting everything i do because sooner or laters its gonna come and bite me in the ass. Nolove-It feels great when you've set the record for most golds, killed an opposing athlete and blown smoke in your opponents face after winning gold. inb4-"OmFGz mikel phelps is a legend". Don't worry tho' you'll have another chance for humiliation in another 4 years.
i want to do this so bad.im trying to get my friends into writing and whats it all about.but nobody wants to.not even the people i know that draw , ave talent, go to college for it etc. and are real good! hopefully when i get good in a year or so , they will see my shit and hop on the train.
