I hear you but I disagree. Style is subjective man. I like poofy tumory shit. But I did try a few simple letters and it just didn't look nearly as good in my opinion.
you like that shit cause you dont know what good graffiti should look like and dont give that bullshit spiel that "art is subjective and blah blah" fuck that. art is only subjective after you get good. shitty art will always be shitty art.
because graffiti is a progressive thing.....of course since your just starting out everything you do is guna look good to you and simpls are guna be boring because YOU believe youve mastered simps but in reality you need to do simps and simple bubble letters until you figure out porportions because what your doing now, no offense, looks terrible. it looks like your trying way too hard. but hey if you like random tumors in your shit go right ahead. just trying to give you some pointers.
I appreciate the tips, and longer explanations like that are more helpful. I've been playing around with this certain style for awhile, but I understand what you're saying about proportions. I wasn't saying I was going to stick to one style forever, I'm all for progression. I'll try out more simples
Simples take time and work, keep doing them, fuck ive had days where i do a simple S 40 times on one page just to work on structure They'll start out like this (atleast they should) with zero flow and looking fucking stupid but with time they won't look so fugly and stupid trust me work on simps, I'm tellin you now, listen, i wish someone had told me to earlier
DUDE, when you use your pencil to outline, are you, like, going in an up and down motion so the line stands out a bit? if so, stop that stuff. work the pencil with grace handle it like a woman (or xbox controler in your case JK) until you lay a light line down very smoothly. then you do add ons and outline the shit from there. its so fuckin easy to understand. im just trying to help you out. or if youre doing simples for now, work on putting 3-d or drop shadows on them big fat strate letters. hope i helped a lil bit tho. literally. ((its all about the asthetics of the letters when they are connected or put together. THINK OF THIS SHIT LIKE YOU ARE MAKING A LOGO FROM SCRATCH...)
