well read more and sketch more and when you think you have progressed some post in the toy blackbook. but just keep sketching over and over.

Bump for crits?
Black: I think lose some of those extensions seem to detract from the letters.
Knine: Practice super simple stuff. All same width with the bars and all same height.

young boba fett? nice cut, go for more detail, and get rid of the white thats floating to the right of the face and above the arm. that would look doper. the lower left doesnt make a ton of sence visually either, and give that kid a chin. fuckin chinless wonder in this bitch

 

Thanks for the crit. The white was just to cover up a symbol on the box i was practicing on and his face is supposed to be below his arms but if you can't tell that, i'll rework it.

Zoner and MS, dope rollers, the way the top of the M slants down kills it a bit for me, but fuck it, it's a roller

Safe- letters look a bit tangled, and I don't know about the part of the A's leg that folds back up, but i like the way your letters are headed

My scanner doesn't pick up hilighter too well, and I got rushed and slacked on the S, but crits?...

when im in art ill bring some more simples and maybe have had a lil something to show you guys.

 

black - much improvement bro but the extensions off your S and E are weak, they would look much better cut short

408bomber - keep working with those simps man, all your bars should be the same width at first, that "I" is way smaller. if you start getting bored try simply slanting your simps back like \ or something. and dont worry about finished sketches at this stage just draw draw draw, once you got that shit down (im talking a month or two from now) then start working in little breaks cracks colour and minor details, but not extensions yet because you really need to understand your letters first.

this is why the whole idea of the toy/intermediate forum doesn't really work. people say that sketches are "sick" when they totally aren't. for example, black's sketch is no where sick. extensions coming out of no where and inconsistency in the bars and flow. also if you don't understand how to do simples than that's something you have to figure out, cause if you can't do that there's no way you can come up with more complex stuff. not trying to hate on any of you guys, but it just makes rage when i see people call someone else's shit really good and sick when it's not.

as for black, lose the extensions that come out of the top of the s and e and just work on an overall consistency and flow to your letters.

everything in life takes time and practice to get better at and this is no different. just keep at it guys

 

i think the extensions on the S and A are in good spots, the E not so much... i wouldnt call it a sick sketch though but safer is improving

 

spend alot of time working on consistancy. look at different serrif and sans serrif fonts. learn what elements of each letter is diffinitive to that letter. pay extremely close attention to your negative space cause that shit needs to be consistant too. repitition. set up a grid so your shit is straight before you hack away at the bars. break each letter down into its proportions on a grid if you need to

 

this is an italicised grid but you get what i mean

 

408bomber, simplify your hand too, that will make it easier to get better at peicing because when you're working with your hand, you can learn what curves look good.

i like the extension off the S and i did one off the E so it would make the S but im thinking about scrapping both of them. maybe. i'll think about it.

redz: that E is much better. i was gonna do an E with that kind of middle bar on the E. don't paint that. i'll feel like im biting lol. lose the extension on the R and the D, and fix the S up a little. We can have a drawing session soon or something.
