best buy might be my favorite job so far. i sell cameras, car audio and mp3 players. and i was just wondering if a medium format camera is something that people who are serious save up for. not like "should i get one this year?" i mean like lifetime lol. will i be taken seriously without one i guess. lol i remember u saying for what i wanna shoot, ppl only look at photogs with med format i have full plans of the d300s, grip, and 35 1.8 mad soon. im gonna get that and shoot my ass off with it.
ok guys so here are my 2 Prime selections (actually, the other one is still canon) Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM 599$ cdn http://www.vistek.ca/store/CameraLenses/228627/sigma-af-30mm-f14-ex-dc-hsm-wide-angle-lens-for-canon.aspx Canon 35mm f/2.0 379$ cdn http://www.vistek.ca/store/CameraLenses/106621/canon-ef-35mm-f20-wide-angle-lens.aspx huge price difference but im still leaning a bit towards the Sigma cause its built for the cropped sensor and the Canon isnt.(not actually sure how huge of a different that makes...will do more research) the Sigma also has HSM(canon has a regular AF) and is obviously faster. also seem to have a better build quality for its body (while canons seem to have the same cheap 50mm build). thoughts? opinions? the problem is im not sure which has better glass and the price vs overall quality
i have a sigma 30mm 1.4 for nikon mounts, its pretty rad. i'm selling it though cause im a broke ass and need some monies. so if anyone wants to buy a sigma 30mm 1.4 for a decent price, hit me up...
Canon official mounts will ALWAYS work better with a canon camera. I always here about issues about auto focus and build quality with sigma lenses, also with canon lenses, but thats only compared with nikon lenses, especially lenses as fast as the sigma's. Remember, a fast lens is only as good as its auto focus can provide, if the auto focus is out, every photo is gonna be soft. and ive heard sigma's auto focus systems are off as fuck. Just compare reviews, and remember any sigma review is most likely by a sigma user, so it's obviously gonna be good because they dont wanna feel stink about their purchase. Official brand lenses are mostly better, because they are designed to be used with the same brand cameras. PS... any skaters here? took about a zillion photos of skating on my 11 FPS camera tonight... photos to come... please excuse... completely new to skate photography.
looking forward to those AK, i was gonna do a shoot of a skate comp next weekend, but the beach just sounds awesome instead
took over like 40 shots thought these were the best of em .. sorry if theres to many and its gone... cotton candddyy sky
i too like the sig haha. anyone hear anything about bower lenses? theres an 85mm 1.4 for 350 bux also, my gma just told me she is supposed to be getting a lot of money from some settlement and is gonna give me $3000. fuck yes. its all going to photo gear. i'll most likely get my d300s this month and hopefully put a grip on it. then the 3000 for who knows what. I was thinkin like 2 lenses and a mac. idk though
I want a d300s. I feel limited by my d40. And don't want to go full frame so I can use all the lenses for the d300s on the d40 if I need to for backup.
^I'm in the same boat. I was comparing D90 and D300s the other day. I think I'll end up going with a 90, just because the price of the D300s just doesn't seem to validate the ups it has on the 90 for me...
they are similar. but to me, the d300s is what I want. I like the dual card slots as well as other features. If i were you, i would prolly get the d90. its cheaper but still nice. i am still fighting with myself about whether to go fx or not. i dont think i want to cuz it costs so much more. but it doesnt seem like anyone calls a camera a "pro camera" unless it's a fx. fuck it lol dx is cheaper and just as good besides iso capabilities. which i never go over 400 anyways. sorry, thinking out loud haha i keep seeing these things on ebay and wonder if its legit or not haha. http://cgi.ebay.com/D300s-Digital-S...ewItem&pt=Digital_Cameras&hash=item439bf90032
Yeah the dual card slots and the 9 image bracketing on the 300s is my biggest draw to it. And its RAW compression (For whatever reason, the 90 compresses RAW 'losslessly.' But the 300s just doesn't at all)
