have you tried looking at templeofdeejays ? they have most of the latest battle records from producers like le jad,he makes some good records for juggling.
word up man your beats are gettin better im likin the one 'lookin out' Just a few wise words from Q-bert about scratching but i know some of you producers can benefit from this too 1. Speak with your hands. Follow your inner ear, see the sound and color in your 3rd eye & say it before you play it. You can tell a story with your instrument! 2. Practice, practice, practice, then practice again. But don't be hard on yourself & always be gentle. Learn to stay fit so you have a clear mind for cosmic inspiration! 3. Use your emotion and the skratch will follow, so let go & have fun with your soul. 4. Swing it/make it funky "It ain't no thing if it ain't got that swing" 5. Play the turntable like a musical instrument/ Be dynamic/ change rhythms, pitches & tempos etc. 6. Make it rhyme like poetry and realize space is a sound too as zero is a number. the balances and opposites live together and come full circle. “The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak” ~ Hans Hofmann 7. Continue to grow in wisdom/ Always be open to learn new techniques, ideas, combos/study musicians & music theory. Knowledge is infinite 8. Flow and just make something out of your mistakes like writing with a pen because no one is always perfect. Repeat your mistake so it sounds like it was supposed to be like that. If you do slip, just keep going, no one really notices anyway. 9. Have finesse and grace like you are skating on ice with the the sounds so you can relax and pace yourself. The subtleties are oh so sweet. Be like water, formless and adaptable. 10. Be original and the easiest way is to be your self. Make up your own rules... life will guide you to speak with your art. i paid 90 aus dollars for my shures but they are for scratching,i know you can get ones especially for recording that are cheaper. so im guessing again that for around 50 yanky dollars you could get a real nice one, just have a look around the internet for some ortofons or something and read reviews hope this helps
