The Digital files just aren't as nice as the negatives, you notice that? Film is just so much better.

Yeah, no digital files are as nice as negs. I'm working on processing the M8 files in different ways though, and also shooting it like it was a film camera. I sold my D300s so I picked up the M8, my only digital camera now, to work on some new stuff and for some projects coming up. But yeah fuck digital even trying to come close to beautiful negs!
I kind of feel like you're overprocessing those m8 files. It looks like you've given them too much contrast, causing it to blow out and lose shadow detail. If you want them to look more like film I'd suggest looking at a program called alien skin exposure 2, or that silver whatever that ak uses, it'll probably give you better results then "fucking with the sliders."
I usually shoot for high contrast, and exposed subjects but the backgrounds don't matter to me so much, i blow them out and it doesn't bother me. if you compare those 3 M8 photos to my other M6 stuff I process them to be similar to how i shoot/develop my film - M6 M8 Played with Silver Efex, but it just kinda overlays grain. All I really do in Lightroom is convert to B/W and sharpen slightly to bring out any noise from the M8 ISO, since it looks like film grain rather then noise. Like I said, still working with processing for those files. Working 6 days I have to find time to shoot/process and I've only been shooting it about a week, ie. one day out of that. But yeah, not trying to replicate film. Just shooting the camera like I would if I was shooting film. Exposing how I normally do, etc. If I wanted a film look I'd shoot film.
Not really, they're just far too smooth and... well, digitalised to be film. Even the one you edited kmc just looks like a noisy digital photo, that's the problem with trying to replicate film though, overlaying grain. It's best just to find a way to shoot that suits you/the camera and is similar to your film style. How are you liking the M8 anyway jobin?
I hate it when people do a digital to black and white conversion...never the same XD sorry for a really really shit photo but just taken from my phone...I finally got some little cards printed so I can mega whore my blog...if anyone wants me to send them 10-20 to hand out, or chuck in a local shop etc, just ask more than willing to send them out etc [Broken External Image]:http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hpho...907230223_826565222_20676253_1485312067_n.jpg Also anyone want to like my facebook page...seems a nice way to get around these days cheers in advance!! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Part-of-the-Plan/191206587595460?ref=ts http://www.facebook.com/pages/Part-of-the-Plan/191206587595460?ref=ts http://www.facebook.com/pages/Part-of-the-Plan/191206587595460?ref=ts http://www.facebook.com/pages/Part-of-the-Plan/191206587595460?ref=ts
Monkey your blog is tight, I feel like mine is filled with shitty pictures and reposts of stupid shit. More gay shit...
Sorry for the double post. I got a job shooting clubs out here. Really dont enjoy it but it makes money and free drinks.
No offense, but you obviously haven't used silver efex to it's full potential. It is a hugely powerful program once you actually learn how to use it properly - it does a lot more than just add grain... who does that anyway? grain is for FILM! Watch this video. This is the sort of editing I do to my BW's in silver efex. After watching this I bet you'll reinstall it. Haha. I just downloaded version 2 so I'm keen to see what new shit it offers.
I decided a Like page on facebook sucked dick...so you guys want to add an actual page I made up...i get the feeling facebook will remove it...ive requested like 500 of my own friends already :/ Heres the link anyway will be greatful for any adds.. http://www.facebook.com/partoftheplan
'Like' pages are better man, it means people can stumble upon the page, click like and that's it. With an actual account people can see everyone else who's added it, less privacy for them and a lot of people don't want to add accounts like that. With 'like' pages you can just pop the like button on your site and everything and people just give it a click and it's done.
Yer the only good thing is with having an actual profile setup is that I can add randoms. With a like thing people have to find the page first, ive had random adds from freinds of friends, and ive added random people who have said they love it and are so glad it had been forced into their view... Anyway quick write up from my Amsterdam Trip... http://www.partoftheplan.org/2011/09/rainy-trip-to-amsterdam.html
I might be going to meet freddy forsyth, the guy behind publishing the crack and shine book....think im meeting him a tad later for a few drinks with a mate from silent uk....should be cool!
