nwc, that last flick post you made is all over the place. i feel like i was tricked into thinking you had some concept of form and balance, and then you unleashed a fury of nasty sketches. i've seen a couple of reasonable flicks from you. but with those last few, i'm not surprised that cats are telling you to go back to basics. if you want a comprehensive breakdown of what some of the issues with them are, get at me in pm sometime. also, i don't agree with the keyboard letters thing, i never went there. but, i spent a couple of years making ugly, embarrassing shit. and i see how it could have helped, maybe.
styles have progressed so much since the 80's, they are dope and timeless pieces but that doesn't mean they are dope compared to today's standards.
I think a well done simp is much more pleasing to the eye than some burners. One of my favorite writers is Ichabod and 99% of the stuff ive seen by him is simps.
Dunno if im happy with this one, still too much neg space between S and E. Not sure if my S is any good either.
^Only thing i dont like is the little line that comes in further than it should from the bottom part of the S. If that makes sense? and the neg space where the date is. Have you tried dropping some capital E's? Could help your neg space problem a bit. And it'd fit with the capital A a bit better. Just my 2c though. Also, I agree that I often prefer a readable simp to a burner. More because of the spots a dope simp could be up as opposed to a burner though, I mean spending 10 minutes dropping a big blocky stomper on a highway wall as opposed to a 4 hour burner that people would have to search to find gets more respect from me. No disrespect to the burners that spend the time though, I love something steezy and colourful too. Flicks for chat, Not sure if I enjoy any of these too much, but still trying new shit nonetheless;
Haven't posted a pic on here for a while so thought I would. Still playing with basic letters and trying to learn what I can do with them and what not to do with them as well as trying out different colour schemes. Think my blue marker has a dirty mark on it which has caused the nasty looking stains in the blue part my bad. Any crits?
If my name has two E's should they both be the same? Or should I change the second E to kill some of the negative space?
