Otr hard to buff is good ink really oblique and dark. Doesn't stain by itself. Strong alcohol smell. Ok by itself. Just add dye etc.

What solvents make your inks eat thru plastics? I use solvent for industrial psaypaint

Xylene is the usual culprit. but any strong solvent can do it, both plastics and solvents come from the distilation of crude oil, so if you use cheap plastics they will be melted. i believe HDPE and PP plastics are safe to use, LDPE on the other hand is not good

red and blue use oilbaised bucket paint and for pink use spraypaint and sprayit into white bucket paint to tint it pink. makesure you use oil baised paints.
for the shine you can add some stuff called "varathane clear finish-oil baised"" make sure you use the gloss and mix a bit into your coloured paint. thin with xylene/min spirits and put it in a mop/bomb.
try other shit to jsut experiment

Simplest way to do this would be:
    MIX...
2/3oil based tube paint from the arts and crafts store(believe me they'll have any and every color u can imagen just make sure u get oil based and not acrylic)
    1/3paint thinner
And a couple caps full of japan dryer(also at the arts and crafts store usually with the tube paints, its makes paint dry faster.Without this the oil based tube paint would take days to dry on its own after thinning it down.)
Shake it all together and add it to ur favorite mop.
If ur really determined to make it shiny most arts and ctafts stores sell powdered gold and silver pigments thats ment to be added to paint to make it glitter,a couple pinches of that will do the job or a couple caps full of ur run of the mill model car gloss/finish that comes in the little jars.
Hope that helps, its a very simple recipe.Pretty hard to fuck up.Plus all easily rackable supplies, cause really, who the fuck is willing to pay for art supplies or KR's bullshit "ink"....
If the stank ain't loud it ain't worth using the same rules that i apply to my weed lolol.
But if u must, normaly anything acrylic based is very low odor.

There is no recipe it has to be bought.

No there is a tattoo ink called candy ink(its shit btw) but the kandy ink thats talked about in graffiti is the nickname given to a specific leather dye that smells like cotton candy thats popular in the bay area....

Candy ink is cheap, kinda. It also stains hard as fuck and comes in funky colors, but like i said candy ink isnt its really name, ull have to figure that part out on ur own or have an old head tell u like the rest of us lol.
I said twice in this post what kandy ink is but ill repeat myself cause i like too....kandy ink is a nick name given to a specific brand of leather dye that smells like cotton candy And comes in bright colors that resembles candy also. Its most popular in the bay area and ment to be kept sacred...not for interwed kids basically. All though about 4 or 5 years ago my ***** biz did spill the beans about it on this read but deleted all the information shortly after.Honestly its been a couple years since ive had some. The pinks always been my favorite, but for all i know the company could be belly up by now.Ypu guys wouldnt know what to do with that stuff anyway, its ment for insides like buses and pannels more then anything. Its not very weather or fade proof but boy will that shit stain the fuck out of whatever it touches....

Whered all the ink junkies go?
Rouge and bizerk and those other old fools.
....anyway,powdered charcoal+gum arabic+pen ink+a little extra alcohol/solvent=alot richer black ink that won't fade in a week like plain ol' pen ink.Lamp black or ashes also do the job in place of charcoal.

When combining Marsh and a dye like Fiebings what would give the best results im thinking 1/1?

Also has anyone had experience using potassium permanganate in their brews? Thinking of adding it to the Marsh/Fiebings combo along with a splash of break fluid.

First time making my own ink. Wanted a dark purple used 40 blue pens 20 red pens and it looked a bit watery so I added 10 black pens.

    image.jpg

Still gotta let it sit overnight and not sure if I should add the break fluid or nawh

Nawh. break fluid does nothing but ruin a good batch of ink.

    Ink recipe's and info

    BASICS OF PEN INK MAKING
50 pens per half cup of alcohol. high percentage rubbing alcohol (ATLEAST 90%). Less alcohol and more pens= thicker more opaque ink, but dont make it too thick lol.
I always make atleast 8oz(1 cup) of ink at a time. And to make it thicker ill ad 20 pens to the usual recipe or use 2oz less than normal.
STAINERS: purple PVC primer (can also be used as replacement for alcohol as the solvent base). Is found in the PVC isle at any hardware store, home depot, menards, etc
Gentian Violet: purple dye (found in crystal or powder, or 1% diluted solution) If you get the 1% solution at a pharmacy, put it in a shitty pot on a Bunsen burner/hot plate on low temp for a whole day to get the water in it to evaporate. You'll end up w a small amount of powder. Add just enough alcohol or any other solvent (xylene etc) to make it liquid and mix it thoroughly and then add to your batch of ink.
Methylene blue: Same as gentian violet^ but blue. Can be found at fish isle in pet stores in a diluted solution. Used to heal fish of ich disease, which is an infection of the scales. to purify do the process above.
Malachite Green: Same as Gentian violet and Methylene blue but green. More common than methylene blue at pet stores in fish isle. Purify it and add it for green stains.
Potassium Permanganate: Brownish, black oxidizer (the powder in the grog booster powder). Can be found in liquids in fish isle at pet stores or in the garden isle at places such as menards or home depot. If you use the garden version you need to strain dirt and other particles out. if you get the fish solution just evaporate the water out using process above^^^
Leather dyes: brands such as Feibings are the best. Hardest staining colors are dark blue, dark red, or purple. add a slight amount to get your ink to bleed through lots of layers of paint.
DOT3 break fluid: add a cupful or 2 into 8oz of ink atleast to slow down ink drying time so as to allow the ink to seep deeper into the surface you applied it to so it bleeds through more layers of buff and is harder to chemically scrub out.
Feibings edge ink: Edge dressing, which stains well, with a rubber composition. Xylene based. Dries into a synthetic rubber and becomes incredibly hard to remove. MUCH harder to remove than paint. Is pretty thick so thin it with xylene, MEK, Ketones, or simmilar solvent. Bleeds through quite a few layers by itself, but bleeds through many layers when thinned with ink or with stainers added.
Heres a solid recipe for purple stainer ink that doesn't fade fast:
55 Red pens to 45 Blue pens and 5 black pens. 6oz Purple PVC primer (optional: 1 gram of potassium permanganate powder)
SOLID MOP PAINT RECIPE: 2/3 Oneshot sign painters/pin-stripping paint 1/3 xylene. Don't use alcohol, use xylene. Xylene can be purchased at menards, walmart, home depot, or any hardwarestore. Major bitch to remove by scrubbing off. Is still clearly visible after attempted chemical buff.
Most of the time inks and paints dont mix well unless agitated constantly before use, UNLESS you add a bit of acetone to bind them somewhat.
PIGMEN BINDER FOR HOMEMADE PIGMENTED INK:
Pure shellac resin. soluble in alcoho
