Tongue looks a lot better. Unfortunetly your character too much resembles Under Water Pirates character structure. I don't know where you are going with that. You even have the same hat lines!
I think you're going to have to change/switch up what you're doing with your character at the moment. It's okay to have influences. Like my influence was Penfold, but I interpreted what he did and mashed it into something raw that I like. Your character way too much resembles UWP. The hat, the eyes. Total rip off. UWP knows exactly what he is doing, you don't.
Also your character is way too simple. It's okay to have simplicity, but your character is just overrall weak. Not digging the dashes on the teeth. Nor am I digging the random squiggles on the hat. It just doesn't work too well. But hey everyone starts somewhere. Practice makes perfect. Took three years to get my character down.
Oh my....I didn't know who he was, and I did this character because I wear a bunch of Neff hats and tend to stick my tongue out in any selfies I take, so it's pretty much a representation of myself....but I'm glad you told me that!! Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to go about this...
The inspiration for my character concept was MoveTwo, I feel what you're saying about it being too simple to a degree, and you apparently have never worn a slouch hat or you would understand that they don't sit perfectly towards the back, hence the lines in the hat. And It's almost practically impossible to find a hat (beanie, tobogan, whatever you call them) that isn't ribbed, so of course I'm going to have lines at the base, that's just common sense honestly. I also think it's a little much to say I don't know what I'm doing, because it seems to be only you who thinks that. Every artist (not just graff artists) I've met seems to think otherwise for someone who has never taken an art class. And besides like you said it takes time to develop a character to it's fullest potential.
If you draw a beanie, you don't have to draw ribs. Art is about creation. You can make anything. So what if a beanie has ribs, you could instead make it horizontal, or diagonal, whatever. You can make an orange blue, just because an orange is orange, doesn't mean you have to make it so. And lots of people wear beanies and take selfies with their tongue hanging out. Saying your character is a represenatinon of yourself sounds kind of stupid to be honest, just because you do that.
I understand that, I made that statement to show that your comment about how my character and this other guy's have the same hat lines holds no substance. And based on your logic- a lot of people write graff and speak the english language (or whatever language they may write in) so why should one word represent a single person? It's pretty stupid right? I can say that because I was the sole inspiration for the design of that character. It had nothing to do with UWP, not only because I didn't know who he was. If you were to take a picture of all of my friends and I you could easily pick me out because of those characteristics. So I'm done arguing with you. Say whatever you want because I'm still gonna do me. Whether that means my art happens to look similar to someone elses won't matter because what I do is all me.
Okay, I'm going to make stencils of rats in NYC, never heard of banksy, I don't care what others say, what I do is all me herp derp
Another set of stickers I just printed off I messed up the hole in the tooth. Got a little confused at how I was going to do it and then that happened haha
And Strongman, I get what you're trying to say. I just think you went about it the wrong way. You really pissed me off when you said I didn't know what I was doing and that my reasoning behind my character was stupid. I'm just saying maybe you could try and be a little less critical when you're giving advice.
I can critique as hard as I want. I can tear apart someone's work that they post on here. Fuck constructive criticism. You can tear apart my work too. I've posted my work on here, people can say its fucking shit and I should quit. Doesn't piss me off. People can say what they want. No skin off my nose. In fact I welcome it. I want to hear what someone thinks of my work, whether its good or bad. If its shit I want to know why. Criticism is good.
There are many ways to go about creating a hole I believe. But the easiest way for me is to do them like this VVVVV Holes are fun and easy. You can make things pop out of them like tongues or genitals.
I can take harsh criticism about my work, but you fail to realize that my work wasn't the only thing you criticized, and that shit aint cool. I thought you could actually be somewhat of a respectable person, but turns out otherwise. Oh well...
Oh no! You think I'm not somewhat of a respectable person? Boo hoo, poor me. Thank you so much for telling me that. Dude, its the internet, I can say whatever I want. Freedom of speech. If I don't like what you are saying or your style, I can blast you on that. Same goes with me, if you don't like something about me, feel free to say it. I don't care. You are entitled to say whatever. I don't even know what I said that offended you. I don't think I care. Some people get offended by the word cupcakes. Was it because I thought it was dumb how you said your character represented yourself? Yeah, I think that is dumb. I can say what I want. Whatever. If you get pissed off thats your problem.
strongman your shit is... well. shit. period. your 'feedback' is just you bashing peoples work to try and get a boner, and then coming back with some half-assed comment to try and get people to give you crits. its easier for the entire board to just ignore you completely... anyway... joy i think yer characters are pretty simple and cool show me some more done with paint markers, or maybe on label 228s if you got em, and maybe we can trade sticker packs soon
