I'm in Tampa. There is no graff scene here. I moved down here a few years ago from up north and just kind of assumed there would be because the Tampa/St Pete area is like 2.75 million people, but I was wrong. Moved for personal reasons though, not graffiti. You see the occasional toy shit in Ybor from time to time, but that's it. Unless you're solely into painting freights, the best thing to do (I've found) is just to make the 3.5 hour journey to South Florida/Miami for the weekend. Definitely a scene there and it's a fun city regardless... assuming you're over 21.
I was in tampa then Venice(Florida) for new year. I live in London. I was quite disappointed as it my first time in the US and I didn't get to much apart from a few toy tags.
It's all in Saint Petersburg. Tampa for some reason despite it having WAY MORE abandoned buildings has little to no scene especially compared to St.Pete
I looked up tampa graffiti for reasons why the scene was so weak but all I found was this: http://www.tampabay.com/news/humani...-butt-graffiti-all-over-st-petersburg/2328199 Which is quite funny.
"Did he do it? Has he tagged the butt onto the city?" Lmfao, who wrote this fucking article. ""blob dylan," and "dgen" and the person stenciling "fat guys with beards are everywhere.""
I think it's summed up well at the end with "Part of it is probably just knowing these mature, grown, white-collar people are looking at these lowbrow butts."
Its not even like that. Tampa cops are understaffed and scarce. people just dont do it unless your in Ybor City. but its kinda sad youll see very poorly done gang tags for latin kings but thats about it. ive even hit a few in the warehouse district near S.P.O.T. (skatepark of Tampa) it really is a shame.
So no police strength, a city with a pretty big population, mostly the kind of age to be graffiti. I'm really confused as to why there is no graffiti scene except in one place.
