Check it out - my room mate (and long time friend) is a writer. I'm totally down for it. I think graffiti is awesome and I'd do it myself except... I'm on probation for possession. This is important because my room mate is a dumb writer. He's spontaneous and careless, takes pictures of him tagging and puts them on tumblr (which is the dumbest thing), steals street signs, isn't careful about being followed or seen, etc. I'm also totally fine with that - if he wants to be dumb, that's whatever, except that I'm worried about getting raided. We have various illegal shit in common areas in the apartment and if we get raided we could all be charged with possession. Since I'm on probation for the same crime, I would probably go to jail if I got charged. He's got pictures of him tagging public property up on the internet and it would be incredibly easy to link him to his sig and I feel like he's putting all of us in danger with the cops with his carelessness. He's pretty new to tagging but he's been kicking it up a lot more lately. There's a lot of graff in our town, so I don't know if it's right to be worried about this, but I still think it's dumb to be so irresponsible about it. I tried talking to him about it but he got defensive and told me to fuck off right away (it was over text). I don't really know how I could make it make sense to him because he's pretty selfish. What do you guys think? Am I being dumb for being worried that our place could get raided because of his carelessness? How should I talk to him about it? What the fuck should I do? Haha. I know somebody from my hometown that got their house raided for being stopped with a can in their bag at a park at night and half of the house ended up get charged with possession and shit for stuff they found in everyone's rooms. What's the graff community's idea on this?
you COULD try and find a way to make this work. explain to him why being careless when committing crimes is a very bad idea and get him to change some of his behaviors.... the way you describe him makes me doubtful this would work very well though. it's probably easier if you just find a new roommate as fast as possible. someone tells you to "fuck off" when giving them some advice that could save their ass, they just bought enough rope to hang themselves.

Whenever you see he's gone and done a tag, go cross it out with a made up name. Then sit at home and listen to his anger about someone beefing with him on the street, trying to figure out who this mystery writer is who has beef with him and why are they beefing. Will drive him nuts. Beat his ass. Ass rape him, then tell him that's what jail will be like and he should avoid illegal acts. Burn the apartment and destroy all evidence now while you can. Move into your mom's basement. Or.... for starters stop being a pussy and talk to him face to face, fuck that text shit, sound like a scared bitch. Second, if you're still doing illegal shit while on probation you're already risking your own ass and you might be sounding a little hypocritical to him to be telling him to watch his illegal actions while you are risking your own ass by living with an ignorant douchebag that might get you busted by his actions. You could try to educate him on stepping his graf game up, although getting caught is always a risk no matter how careful one is so even if he's more cautious, you're still in the same boat. If all else fails, beat his ass or move out.
