I honestly don't know. Would like to know the answer also. Not saying that b/c you dont believe in God(as in the Christian one) or another god that you are wrong, but just wondering if there are any people that are out there that do believe. Or is that personal? Anyway.

Some of it is for shock/satire. They don't really bow down to a dark lord, and many don't bow to any lord. But they usually aren't here to offend religious people.

Is a classic orange dot the same output as a black cap with orange dot?

To be clear, I joke about goats blood and the dark lord and ritual sacrifice, but I was raised catholic.

I put some satanist shit in my graff for shock value. I'm not a satanist and I don't believe in any sort of god, but I am sympathetic to what a lot of satanists believe in. Moreso than most christians, at least. All religion is bullshit. Eat some psychs and think for yourself.

    Hail satan.

If you stay in the game long enough you'll be introduced to people naturally. Graffiti writers come in all kinds, and there's no designated chill spot in most places. If there is in your area, you'll find it as you come up in the game. I guess you could do like all the cool kids and hit people up on IG, but I've never really liked that. Plus their first thought'll be that you're a cop. Just go paint.

Write in chill spots to boost your painting skills, but you have the right idea sticking to paper for now. Grind hard and take it seriously and then you can start getting into the world of actual graff.

I'll preface this with the notion knowing I will get hate, so if you're prone to that; skip ahead. I don't know the proper channel to go through, but I'm curious if anyone would be willing to take me on to mentor. I was watching some documentaries and noticed a lot of the guys said they had mentors from their very early stages. Preferably someone who's focus is hand styles and tagging. I would make it well worth your time helping you out as well with paint, markers, etc.. Least I could do to someone helping a fellow aspiring artist out. Send me a message if you're interested.

Learning off one particular guy/gal is cool but not always the best way, as they can teach bad habits as well as good ones. Having forums like this allows you to get pointers, tips, hints, whatnot off whoever you think is giving the most appropriate advice at any time.

Graffiti is not cricket, there no hard and fast rules, there are just guide lines. My advice, if its worth anything, would be to nail the basics on paper. I know doing straight letters is boring but do it anyway, then do it some more. Sketch daily and be able to throw up in your sleep. Paint chill/legal spots, there is no point in rushing something your learning IMO. Learn to do it well then speed up.

Then when you are starting to nail the tins, try to paint with others. IMO, I improved far quicker once I started painting with my crew. We all improved at a similar rate too, watching someone do a piece from start to finish in invaluable as everyone does things differently. How they blend, how they use cutbacks to get 'that' effect etc. For example, I have a guy in my crew that is force fielding his first letter before he has marked up his last. It seem crazy to do that to me, I like to know how much paint is left, ensure I can fill across etc, but he just starts at one end then goes. I however go one tin at a time and start to block colours in, then play with doo dads and effects afterwards.

Re reading your post I see its tagging you want to focus on, that's even more book work. But the flow from your letters will only start to come when you find your natural style. Natural style come from years of doing. Essentially, there are no shortcuts, and your graff will reflect how much time you have put into it.

Attached a timelapse of one of mine from last year so you can see the steps I take to get to the finished piece.

Hope my ramblings help... and have fun with it, no point if your not.

Hey thanks man, I appreciate that. Yeah I am just really inspired by a lot of the guys from the BYE crew, and some various others, even like HNR. I am at the moment just filling up notebooks repeating tags and trying out various combinations of letters. I just didn't want to be posting on here all the time asking for crits on different variations and if something flows well. At what point should I actually be taking it out on to the streets though? Should I wait awhile or just go out and get used to writing on different surfaces as well?

If I had even close to the amount of artistic talent as you do in that video I would try to head that direction, great piece btw. Thanks for the information and guidance.

Getting crits on style is, as you have probs seen on previous pages, subjective to say the least. One mans treasure is another mans garbage, so take advice by all means, but don't take it to heart. You know when something looks good. Solid Block letters look better than weak wild ones so the whole keyboard letters crit has a lot of truth. Take Tox for example.. \/

    http://www.camdennewjournal.com/news/2011/jun/tale-two-graffiti-artists-while-bansky-basks-fame-tagger-daniel-tox-halpin-heads-priso

Posting up bits on here keeps the forum alive so I wouldn't advise against it, but maybe be selective as to what you put up? If your happy with it then show it off!

I wouldn't be as naive as to advise you to take part in any illicit activity. But as I said above, you only get flow from doing so its catch 22. How is Vegas for painting anyway? I've been there to get twatted and gamble, but not to paint. I'm looking to book there then road trip to SF and LA early 2017.

I have definitely seen that. I take what I can from the advice and try to apply what I feel is going to help me to continually progress, coming from a caliigraphy and penmanship background I know it takes a lot of repetitive exercises and study to hone skill. I'll definitely continue to post when I feel I might be on to something. I know it takes time, that's for sure. I was never heavily involved in the scene here. I was in a tagging crew back in the late 90's early 2000's and then completely got out for awhile, no one I knew was able to do any pieces or decent throwups as far as I can remember.

I appreciate taking the time to answer the questions and give advice.

Krylon is pretty trash in general. Unless its free and rusto aint there dont go out of ur way. Theres a reason rusto is most used. Kilz and rusto til someone decides to change their formula or valve

Also go find out for yourself.
