Yo fluffy, your art is pretty rad. I'd suggest posting it up in the art other than graffiti thread in the general discussion area. It's where most people looking for it will find it.

    Look dis, Nexn

    Elements used in typography.

Typography is design of letter forms, which is what you're doing on a wall when you're writing. Learn and apply consistency to your letters, but always keep in mind you're writing a dope series of letters, not a series of dope letters. How all of them fit together as a whole matters vastly more than how each letter looks.

Edit: There is an issue with the link I posted, the first time it describes x height (on the H) it is actually called cap height. X height is the height of the x. X height has nothing to do with xs but with cross height (the height at which the crossbars sit)

I sorta get what your talking about make sure that everthing flows the same way dont make letters like a curvy bottom and the next letter is a pointed bottom.

    Basically keep it consistent

Like With Lewn's peice he has the bottom with a dent going in you could say on all his letters then on the very top he has a flat bar

    Yeah, consistency is key.

Notice too that Lewn's only dents in the lower arms of his L and E. On the W he continues the same set of angles by tilting the serifs and the n does the same using the spur.

Lewn's piece isn't perfect, but it's a good example of how typographic elements can be shared between letters. It's one of the major things that separates graffiti from graphic design.

Break them rules, but with style and once you can follow em.

If you go back a page, Juke has some clean bars. They're a good starting point.

No problem man, go write some dope shit.

The only funky connection is the end of the star as the arm of the F and that isn't even present in all of them. They all have mostly consistent x height.

Not to mention check what forum we're in. I've been writing for 5 years and I'm still a fuckin toy. None of our shit is that dope, but to say I have no appreciation for the basics of letterforms is demonstrably false.

Multiple of the same letters is hard to make work because not only do the bars need to be consistent, the letters need to be consistent otherwise they won't fit. If they're too similar then they don't look interesting. Best advice wok be to avoid it until later, but that depends on how set you are on writing NEXN.

Apart from that, bro that is much better. Your E is fucking rad. What you did with the top and bottom arms makes me want to see you write "NERFD" or something with a lot of places for you to connect them like that. Your first N is real clean too.

Whose that up in the top right tho?
