Been reading this forum for a while now, made an account. Not exactly new to graffiti but pretty new. wanted to introduce myself. is there a UK/ LOndon thread, ive looked but couldn't find one?
Alright, the obligatory intro thread. Here's a brief bio with all things relevant to this forum: I used to play around with stencils back in late high school that I made from cereal boxes, but never really did anything in the context of true graffiti art. Late in my senior year/early in the summer of 2010, I came across a documentary trilogy: "The Hip Hop Years" Part one in the series briefly touched on New York Subway art and Fab Five Freddy's role with that in Blondie's "Rapture" music video - which alluded to the graffiti culture of that time. It wasn't until a couple months ago that I realized that some of the stock footage in that documentary came from an earlier one that I'm sure you all know of: "Style Wars" I'm the type that's really into history that only stretches back to the last several decades, because it's so much easier to trace it's effects onto today. Graffiti is no different, and in a certain infamous city in the Pacific Northwest there's plenty to be found. So recently I've started experimenting with letter designs, and cheap paints (nothing exotic yet, just the usual Rust-oleum and Krylon - I can see why different caps matter). --- Let's just say that in addition to evolving beyond toy status, there's a software experiment I have in mind that involves training a classifier to recognize what paint shades and spray caps were likely used to make any given piece...
