Trying to keep things in the appropriate thread.. Hope it gets seen, even though I'm the last one that posted here two months ago. I've made some notes to myself already as to where I failed on the bigger one. O is drastically disproportionate to everything else, and it's been bothersome since I finished this one up. And of course the background.. I wish to figure out where I go so wrong when trying to sort out a background. Whack fill elements too. "IROQ" - exchange Any criticism and all criticism is appreciated.
They look a bit more IROK than IROQ. Would not knock the weight of the letters on the 1st one, it's nice, but that I looks too L and by doing so takes away a little from the left of your R. I might have made some shadow where the R overlaps the O. I kind of like that last sticker, cool.
Bad placement of the cracking effect on the first one, can see where the Q gets lost. Totally thought about the R and O overlap a little lacking, ill be sure to add a little more contrasting shadow. The Q is definitely busy on the second one, way more than necessary.. was attempting to find balance / symmetry, and it becomes more distracting. Thanks so much for your critique! Gonna keep pushing.
Only other feedback is re: the characters. They have some sort of ripple/gill type thing behind their eye. I'd try to morph that piece into bubbly letters, kind of disguising your name into the character. Like the 5th one down, pink with the striped tongue, I like how that little section looks there for that.
Gills, yes sir! Was originally a play off of hammerhead shark, kinda took off from there. Bubble letters for my signature, good to know. Used to deliberately hide my tag within the piece. Have yet to feel totally comfortable with my tag / handstyle / throwie.
Just my opinion, I'd go bubble letters like a throw style, that section I pointed out has good makings for the G-O-R forms. The tag, separate your R and K, think that's what throws it off. IMHO, pretty official for a sticker, would be fresh if painted too. Final note if you don't know, spray your stickers with some form of clear coat before you go out and put them up, defends against weathering and such. Wipe the sticker before you spray it so you're not spraying your fingerprints into the sticker.
Appreciate your time and all of your advice! Will most definitely have to clear coat them. Have a can sitting somewhere. Thanks again!
I have a hard time understanding how Slaps are acceptable in the first place. But this is obviously a sticker made on a computer. I'm looking at getting back up after a 17 years or so break I'm adjusting to new cans new nozzles. Learning some shit over again. and most of all trying to find a style I feel that isn't biting someone else's shit. I see this kind of shit on signs in front of michels , Starbucks sushi spots and micro breweries. I'd have slashed this shit 2 days after it went up not two years. Where is the art in this?
