Clearly youve been doing some form of art for a while, but it was certainly not letter based. Not to be harsh or come across like an asshol, but those letters are borderline painful to look at. That's okay though. Everybody starts exactly where you are. Start writing keyboard style letters over and over again until you start to feel comfortable, then try something and post it for us to crit. We'll tell you what's wrong, you practice more, and you'll be on your way to making half decent graffiti in no time. With color like that, you could end up making some pretty cool shit if you put work in. Welcome aboard Ps, next time post this kind of thing in the blackbooks thread. No need for a new thread.
Thank you for your honest advice! You weren't being an asshol - I'd rather know what it is I can improve rather than wonder. I have done cartooning and animation my whole life so when you said I do other forms of art you are absolutely right. Yes true! I've always had an eye for color - I'm just having some trouble applying these skills to something I have no experience in. #practicemakesperfect
I think the best way to be on any path is practice and listening to feedback. You should see how bad my art was in grade school - like worse than this lettering bad - but if I didn't continue doing art I would've never known half the things I know today with cartooning. If you enjoy it, go for it, ya know?
I can definitely understand what you're saying about familiarity - as humans we gravitate more towards what is familiar to us. I grew up in Boston - what people are used to seeing or pursuing in this area is probably a lot different than what people outside the area are used to. I haven't been to San Fransisco and don't know people who live there - there is a lot of painting on trains here, that is more familiar where I am from.
Your talking to a guy who thinks its appropriate to take a picture of himself wanking and uploads it to a graffiti site. He is not very "sane"
Where are you from? I've never read that book or seen that movie but I appreciate the message they're giving. I think everyone's connection to their art is different and everyone has a different story. To me art is about expressing emotion - and I like to do that through writing as well. I actually did a piece last night with the word ' Freedom', and some buildings in New York City in the background. I've been wanting to run away and disappear in New York - to start a new life in a new city where I don't know anyone. so that piece meant a lot to me. I didn't post because I kinda messed up on the 'M' lol. If we are passionate about what we do, nobody can take that from us. If you are the first person in your city to do this kind of art, your story will be miles different than a beginner's. It's what makes all of us unique.
you know im in college learning about mental health shit right now, i think hes a high functioning schitzophrenic foreal man
I'm so glad these days how far we've come learning about mental health. I've suffered enough with depression and if he is really schizophrenic I hope he's getting help, that's a living hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy!
