I do really like the blue and red overlay images too
Yeah! I like that red and blue overlay look too. I see a lot of tattoo artists do that.. maybe I'll lay down a piece in that style and see what you think.. thanks for the insight. I airbrush as well, so maybe I'll try doing some lines and highlights with that..

In my experience it isn't that paint is building up but the nib is falling apart. I would replace the nib. Poscas are fine too I guess but everyone has their own tastes. Like I am addicted to Gelly Roll 10's for highlights and inlines.

I can also say in my personal opinion Molotow treats me well. I've used a bunch of markers out there. And I've had no issue. The nibs are made of plastic and the since the paint is acrylic try cleaning em with hot soap water?

The only problem I have with the Molotow is once ive used them a few times, the paint will start to dry in/on the nibs and it causes an uneven flow. Replace the nibs and they are good to go!!

Yeah the blue fill is wack. I tried something, then tried to cover it up with more blue, then the red in the 3d wasnt right. By then I was over it. Like the characters that's it lol

I used to sketch a bit when I was younger, 10 year later I’m getting back into it taking a lot of inspiration from this site - tons of talent.
I never used colour before and I’m trying to get the hang of this marker thing .. I was messing around with this one for the battle but I’m not feeling the way it turned out. Any tips or critiques are appreciated . The pencil was going to get shaded but I ran out of ink .

You could properly fix it with just highlights

Practicing wild style stuff. Still getting the basics down. Any thoughts on what to work on?

Yup , ditch the wild style until you understand the basic letter structure and how to exaggerate extensions and bend the letters without losing true form. Anyone can draw a shit mix of wacky bars and lines and doo dads into it but if none of them make sense it looks whack. It takes years and years of failing with little victories you can learn to build off of. It isn’t a race to do the craziest piece you can do , it’s a journey learning how to manipulate and mould the alphabet into a style that is consistent and strong. It only ends when you quit.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Not trying to pretend like I know what i'm doing, just having fun on paper and practicing with cans. Thats why I'm here in the toys forum. I enjoy the art form and I want to get better. Anything you would suggest for diving deeper into getting the basics down? I practice calligraphy a lot and this style and culture is just a whole different beast. I always ask for feedback but i just get ignored on here... so not so sure where to go most of the time

Block out time’s new Roman/Geneva type fonts or even calligraphy old English type letters and get familiar with the structures of the letters individually , as well as the letter combinations together as a whole word . How the letters flow properly with pen another and how you can slowly extend or exaggerate parts to add some funk to a piece to give it style. Just draw and draw and draw and draw and draw . Paint and paint and paint and paint and paint . Eventually you’ll find your path and start acquiring some knowledge as to how veteran letter scientists construct their pieces. Keep it you and build off of your own work.
