You are clearly wrong. The KA24DE puts out 155 crank horses stock, so 64.58 horses per liter. The SR20DET Black Top from an S14 Silvia (not the weakest SR, nor the strongest) puts out 220 crank horses stock, so 110 horses per liter. You obviously don't know much about Nissan engines (like you said), and your logic is flawed. There is a replacement for displacement, the turbocharger. Plus the KA24 redlines at 6,800 RPM, while the SR redlines at 8,000.

Also, don't forget that the SR has much higher power capabilities, and world wide parts and after market support.

One more thing to consider. The SR20 has an aluminum block and head making it very light. The KA24 on the other hand uses an iron block and aluminum head making it heavier than the SR.

Benz88, are you sure about that? I'm fairly sure that both the KA and the SR internals have to be upgraded around the 350 to 400 horsepower range.

    God I'm a nerd. [/b][/quote]
dude sr20deT....the t stands for turbo no??...the sr20 puts out 220 with the turbo witch i think is 8 psi...without it it would probly give out like 130....(dont know i never checked) but i doubt that it would be stonger than a ka24de without the turbo..

y only 6??...go to like 15-20 right away man....change the crankshaft, rods piston rings and pistons and you good to go......then change the cams and valves after they get fucked

and one more thing unibomber...the fact that the sr20 has a aluminum block makes it much less solid than an iron block(or whatver its made of)

    but once again...im a volks guy :p

And you still dont know what your talking about. The price to do those mods to a damn Ka is way way more then it is for a fucking Sr with much less impact on the engine. Go to automotiveforums.com and say that shit and see what the fuck happens. Those guys know more about autos then you will ever.

You're right, the T does stand for turbo. Again, you are right it wouldn't put out that much power without the turbo. However, I was only comparing stock motors. Stock the SR20 beats the KA24 in every way. Hell even if you remove the turbo off an SR20 it's still putting out, I'll use your example, of 130 horses. That's still comparable to the KA24DEs 155 and even closer to the KA24Es 140.

Logikalone is right though. Turboing a KA is much more expensive than an SR20 or CA18 swap and those engines are meant to have a turbo, unlike the KA.

About the materials of the block, I was pointing that out for performance reasons. Aluminum is lighter than iron, therefore less weight which gives a higher power to weight ratio. We were not discussing durability.

maybe so...the sr is the logical way to go since it would be cheaper however...the ka24de modded woukld acutally be very impressive since its original and you dont see that many of them that are modded.....i mean......in the volkswagen world every one is always talking about vr6 or 1.8t engine swaps....witch is getting old and no9t that respectable anymore......and on the other hand if you slap a 6inline bmw engine and make it a rwd car...then thats somewthing "new" and ....well more interesting.......but anyways.....i agree that the ka24de is a badchoice if you want to start putting money into an engine......but i still belive that it has more potential than thew ca18 and the sr :p
