I'm sketching for only 2-3 months and i still only do black and white stuff. Crits plz, good or bad anything that can help me improve my shit.

SORE : keep workin on structure, try some blockbusters, your letters lack consistancy(spelling) your in the same boat as me. your s has to meny extentions, your o could be mistaken for an a, and your R needs some help, it looks like its in a O&E sandwitch. but i do like the e.

NUM- really feelin that, give it a dropshadow and an outline, lose the character it makes you look toy, your letters have way more potenial than your characters.

FUBE- if it says mower, i really like your letters. line em up better next time, guess you ran out of room. your handstyle needs work though.

well i like your w and r, dont bend the sides of the t down so much, obviously i think it looks like an m hah.

to me all of these letters match well. but your p is kinda smushed.



i like this one a lot more then the blue one. evenly spaced. and all and all i think its a great throw up. the only thing i would change is the thickness of the cross mark on the A, i would make it a touch thinner.

 

Is the name Kep or Kept taken ? ...becuz i was thinkin off changing to that....

Page One of my first ever blackbook.
Been lurking for a while, working on simples (still there)
Any crits ?

 

For one you could say that's not technically a black book because bb's are generally sketch books, but whatever, I'm just picky.

I wouldn't call that a simple either.

Try writing your name on MSWord in a font called Impact (arial will work too if you don't have impact for some reason).

Then copy that out, freehand, in pencil, not coloring or 3D or anything at the moment, it's just a waste of your time and money.

Do that about 100 times then come back for more advice

Basically what i have done is started with an S in block letters, then overlapped then added some curves.
I have books full of sketches and letter studies, the thing is ive never been a good artist, so i dont even really know if what im doing is on the right track.

Thankyou for your comments though, they are appreciated and will be followed (this is the first piece i have ever coloured, and i went through a metalic purple doing it).
But could i ask, please for some constructive critism, as i feel like i dont know where im going wrong and if i go back to the simples again, i will end up in the same spot i am now, with no more knowledge of where ive gone wrong.... or even right for that matter.

PS, it was cut out of an exercise book post-scanning and glued on the first page of my blackbook (sketch pad) as it is the first coloured piece i have ever done, and even if it is bad, it will serve as a good before/after comparision once i reach the final page.
