The problem is that the ice caps are already starting to melt and exposing much more black ocean which absorbs 90% of the light energy as opposed to 5-10% that it would if it was ice so it causes even more ice to melt. It's a vicious cycle. If too much melts this current is going to stop (the name slipped my mind...) and europe will freeze over and the oceans will rise 15-20 feet. People are already having to leave their homes in the south pacific because the ocean levels are rising...
The gulf stream, and theres no proof thats gonna happen. Thats just an idea of something that could possibly happen if the temperature and salinity of the atlantic gets fucked up...

i just thought that this might be a good idea for a thread, seeing as it is such a controversial topic. i think that it might help some people get some of their anger out that would normally be put in the form of beef. i myself strongly believe the fact that global warming is a huge issue. post your opinion and if you feel the desire, argue away.

the weather may be fucked lately, but global warming is a problem with average climate change. simply put, just because the weather has been acting up lately doesn't mean that its the result of global warming. in the past 100 years the average global temperature has rising 1 degree Fahrenheit. thats it...a single degree. what you are experiencing isn't due to global warming, but rather the natural fluctuation of weather patterns. whats happening in your area may be strange, but it happens from time to time. the planet hasn't gotten to the point where global warming has really affected weather patterns. what we are trying to do (and why there is so much talk of it) is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, methane) BEFORE we start affecting weather patterns and other things like ocean currents, crop yields, disease...the list goes on and on. simply put, and the point i want to get across is that just because an area had a hotter than normal summer or a warmer winter doesn't mean that its because of global warming. its true that warmer temperatures are becoming more common, however its mostly due to the natural fluctuation of temperature and of weather patters. people are just so quick to pull the global warming card and say things like "man its hot today and its november! global warming!".

this is true, but future generations won't be. personally i would want a better life for my children's children. if my ancestors had said "fuck it" and left me to live in a global catastrophe i'd be pissed. that mindsets regressive.
i agree fuck worrying about global warming, environmentalism is dead, im not paying for somebody else's mistakes before i was born, i go out of my way to litter in national parks as much as possible.
