Whats up everyone? Ive been doing graffiti for a little while but I suck at art in general and haven't been making much progress. I was thinking of taking an art class at college but I really dont have time for it.

What can I do to improve my basic art skills with focus on graffiti? Should I try to imitate others until I can gain a basic understanding or would that be frowned upon?

work on your letters.thats a nice start with the character though

 

dont bite homie. just get good. sketch sketch sketch sketch. 24/7. paper and pencil is all you need to get good. and a stupid art class isn't going to help with graffiti. only graffiti heads and graffiti itself can help with graffiti.

So how do you guys get your ideas for letters? I seriously can not think of anything, and when I do try something new it ends up looking like shit. Have you just been into graffiti so long that it becomes ingrained in you?

u just start bending u bars and fiddle around with it...personaly i just go with the flow, i rarely picture the letter in my head.

 

hey i have a question i went to one of my local hardware stores today to get some paint and the bitch at th counter wouldnt sell it to me ( i know you cant by spary paint but i was trying to buy like house paint) anyways i ask why and shes like its against the law leave or i am calling the cops! so is it really ilegal for someone under 18 to buy house paint or was that chick just tripping???

its ok to start by biting, until u can develop your own style. simples are a good way to start with letters, once u have your simple letters down u can start bending them and shifting them in certain places etc etc.

 

When I draw something I'm looking at like a cartoon character on TV or a picture on the computer, I can usually draw it pretty well. But when I only have blank sheet of paper I can't draw shit. Is it ok to draw stuff by looking at it or should I soley draw from my mind. Or should it be a mix? What should I copy, what should I draw by myself?

 

Bite while you still can. it'll help you develop. Just understand you are biting, it's not yours. And simples. Practise. Research. Practise.

Is it just me or does your finger get fucking ridiculously cramped while doing a fill? Does this happen to anyone else? Like I have to switch hands halfway through lol
