    Live Trace???

Looks a bit too clean for that... I'm a vectors man myself, so give credit where it's due... I reckon he's worked the hard yard and painfully created the vectors by hand (the same way I work)...

This comment just goes to show that you have no idea what you are talking about.

You must be talking about Live Trace in Illustrator. The background of this piece was Live Traced, but Buzz Aldrin was hand drawn using the Pen Tool. Live trace leaves tell-tale artifacts that are tough to get rid of (which is why I only use it for backgrounds and not detail). You end up with a million anchor points because the computer wants to render groups of pixels that are too small, and so you end up with all of these really zig-zag vectors. If you adjust it not to render tiny amounts of pixels, it just turns to mush. Using Live Trace will NEVER produce long, clean, flowing lines like those found on the fabric on the space suit. The other difference is that I have more than 20 hours in the space man / skateboard and about 5 minutes in the background.

.... and by never, I mean until technology catches up and puts us Illustrator heads out of business. ;)

If you have never used Live Trace, it is pretty mind-blowing. It just doesn't work for getting precise curves, no matter how much you F with it.

Thanks everyone for the votes and the love.

i dont know what your guys' feelings are about with taking clipart n shit off the net and just putting it into PS, cause thats like avoiding the ability to make shit yourself. but whatever, its all gooood haha
