gesso is what is used to prime a canvas

it prevent the acidity from the canvas to change the colors of your paint trought time and also it makes your canvas more resistant and flexible which prevents it from cracking and/or pelling off...on top of that its easyer to use a canvas that is been primed with gesso than one that haven't been prime

all the art stores sell pre-primed canvas' anyways, too start, start with one that are pre-made

when you catch on canvas' you can start making your own

we simply need another forum section for art...

dope canvases, love that one of the moving train dark.

i suggest to start canvases goto a like wallmart and buy some 100% cotton by the meter (pretty darn cheap) and get some gesso at an art store... dont frame it isnce you wont want to keep it prolly n its easier to store rolled up then a frame... just practice stuff till u het the hang of it then frame em n all.
