Silver DSLR's ruin any credibility as a photographer you may have. In other news, I think I'm gonna cop a D5000 soon.
What do you own now? If you own a D60 or D3000. There is no need to upgrade. Wait until you make a bigger jump to a D300s or something new that comes down the line. I reckon a D700x is next in line. Oh and silver cameras are OG. So long as they are made of steel or brass. Silver plastic is wack. I LOVE my silver M4. And my silver FE2. And my silver Yashica.
Oh, I own a SLR dude, haha. I just want something digital for instant feedback and playing around, and a D5000 seems like the best jump, 'cuz I don't really wanna try and hunt down a D40 on Craiglist, and I don't wanna dump a ton of money on a camera that UI might not know how all the functions to. Maybe a D90 instead?
I feel like we're part of some special entity with an unwritten code that works sort of like this Rule one of photography thread: You do not talk about canon Rule two of photography thread: YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT CANON. not that it bothers me. luv my d60<3
You dont want a camera that you don't know all the functions, so go for a d40 or whatever canon sells as an equivalent. Don't jump into a d90 thats a little ways out.
i wouldnt be scared to get a camera thats a bit out of your skill set. just not so far out that all you have is manual modes. a camera thats a bit above your head will have the features the others below it do, and when you are ready, you can grow into it a bit more.
All cameras work the same. Shutter speed, aperture, focus. That's it. Anything else is just extra features. Anyone that can use a D40 can use my D3 just as easily. Same with a Leica or anything, only thing that changes with rangefinders is the focusing. But thats it.
