I've used the super-takumar 50/1.4 on a canon rebel. It's a great lens, very sharp when stopped down, quite normal wide open.
It's impossible to accurately focus it under f/2.8 or so if you're on the stock focussing screen.

If it's cheap enough, go for it, but after the price of a focussing screen you could have gotten a canon ef 50/1.8. The takumar is worlds ahead in terms of build quality and cool factor, though.

yea ive always wanted a small ass lens. always wanted to have some classic glass... just a bonus theyre both selling adapters along with it.
as for the focusing screen, does it make it that much better when using more updated lenses as well? cause if its that good of an investment, i wouldnt mind dishing out more paper.

btw the 55/1.8 is $100cdn (+ a stuck vivtar filter...yet to find out what kind of filter) and the 50/1.4 is $130cdn
    both with adapters

zio those prices are too high. I got a pentax spotmatic body and the super-tak 50/1.4 for $15, you should hold out. Supposedly those manual focus screens makeit so the little red focus dots don't show up anymore.

Techops- what was the slowest shutter setting you used and which photo?

or whats the slowest shutter speed do all of you guys use?..handheld obviously

KMC- yeah that seems to be the typical price range for canadian market though so i dont know if ill find cheaper ones.
(unless i try to scour the city for little vintage camera shops i guess)
the canonet QL17 i was eyeing is 100...got sold before the dude replied.

as for the focusing screen, i did a quick read... this might not work to my favour as ill want to use it for night shots most of the time
apparently, the adapter can still give the focus confirmation.

What do you guys use to edit with? or at least for colours? I like Lightrooms' crop options and clipping edit settings, but i tend to lean towards PS curves/levels.

said: gave the pentax to my brother for christmas, sorry man.
thrice: lightroom is awesome for some things, but I prefer to use photoshop for almost everything.

Aperture 3 is a huge upgrade to aperture 2 I was using.
Everything at your fingertips... it's awesome.

Only thing I use photoshop for is it's RAW program.

I don't understand the point of using PS for RAW when lightroom or aperture uses the same engine, and not nearly as much of your computers resources. The only time PS is used is for any type of masking, photomerging, or anything using actions or image processor. Other than that, lightroom is ALL you need for basic imaging.

Because I learnt photoshop raw while i was assisting and I don't know how to use aperture's and I'm scared of change.

Been gone awhile, in new orleans.
I torn my frenelum too and it is smaller due to the way it healed. I was out for about 3 weeks, I didn't bleed as bad as monkey described it so I can imagine how bad his was.
