It's plain script writing I don't really see any deviation from that other than the flairs. As far as it's validity as a graffiti tag I suppose that is debatable and subject to opinion but to suggest it somehow is representative of a "classic" graffiti tag is kind of a stretch for me. I mean one of the main things about graffiti in NY was the continuing development of unique styles that were a departure from regular main stream and socially accepted forms of writing like script.

I guess with the addition of the flairs it could be argued that it qualifies as graffiti art but I would beg to differ.

Can you give an example of who used to tag script letters like that in NY back in the day?

I mean definitely not TAKI 183 for example.

Personally I can't really recall anyone of any significance bombing with plain script letters... Maybe someones girlfriend or something.

Straight letters are straight letters but script is a style....a "square" style, so for me it's not valid as a form of graffiti art unless it's kicked out like the highly stylized versions seen in Lowrider or tattoo art..

So I'm just saying...it's plain script. It's not really graffiti art. Although thats just my opinion..

I know you were probably just taking some creative licence in your description and that's fine with me but I thought I would attempt to clarify the situation from the perspective of someone who has been writing since the late 80's.

Guess it's just the old head mentality, I got into graffiti at the age of 8 so I've always been under the notion "As long as it look good, and its thrown up on a wall (More than just walls but you know what I mean), it's graffiti" Regardless if it's block letters, simple cursive, plain print, some wildstyle shit, etc. I dont know shit about old school shit, I couldn't name a single writer. I've just been doin this shit for fun off and on over the past ~10 years. I'm not into or educated about the whole history and culture of the shits

Very ignorant and that's why I decidedly shat on you last post with satire and while this isn't worth the retort here we go. To point out using your own reference frame of the 80's that most people didn't put style into every single letter of a word and most writers of the day went with relatively simple tags compared to today and tons of style baselines are derivative. Ignoring the fact that the warped proportions themselves; especially when coupled with flare are a type of style I'm graciously going to let you go back and actually really mull over some examples before assuming you have no idea what the real definition of graffiti is, look at sane or some shit dude; hell go check the references is why your tag are shit thread. You're saying that tag is "script" writing and not graff?

Either a glorified troll or a pretentious idiot.

The only argument for this not being graff is that the medium it was created in is digital, but I'll say this. It's a lot closer to graff than the dudes who post photoshop shit at least.

All something needs to be graffiti is to have a cornerstone in letters, there is no two ways about. You can't go "Oh but that looks like this 'font' or some shit so it isn't graff" You're dumb. Someone could be literally using the most basic of writing styles; such as taki. Still graff pleb.
