Funny, I was the exact opposite. I was into hiphop for a while. Got a Tribe Called Quest album at like 8. Then a whiles back got into ska then from there ska-punk and then eventually just punk and hardcore. But I still listen to everything. I was never crazy bout Reel Big Fish. I might check out a Citizen Fish concert this month tho. Are any of you guys in any punk/hardcore/ska-punk bands? Im startin one up with a bunch of friends who've been lookin to start something. Probably incorporate those 3 genres. Im sure we'll suck but oh well. I just wanna get angry and break some shit on stage.
I was in a street-punk band when I was 15 with two mates but we lived too far apart so it didn't work out. I played lead guitar. Don't play anymore, can't be fucked.
i was in a ska/hardcore/ska-punk band until i got a job. and then got replaced. by some dude with a shitty tatoo.
nah man, i wasn't talkin shit. Flipper rules. a lot of people refer to flipper as an "anti-hardcore band". anti hardcore being a genera of music, there are other so called anti hardcore band. flipper pushed the envelope of hardcore punk and didnt adhere to any labels or "rules" of hardcore punk. so, they are sometimes referred to as an "anti hardcore band" in the sense that they dont conform to the cliches of hardcore and do their own thing, while still being a part of the scene.
I was in a punk band, which is funny cause I don't even like punk. The rest of the guys were really shitty at their instruments and that didn't bother them at all. I wanted to do something more like Leftover Crack, which is pretty much the only punk band I like, but they just didn't have the skill.
Fuck Yeah!!! Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, Morning Glory. and the rest of the Crack Rock Steady Seven!! Anyone like Tim Armstongs solo album, A Poet's Life? I have been listening to that alot since it came out. I can't get sick of it. Too bad Matt didn't do the bass, although the simple-ness of the aggrolites is needed I guess. edit. and on a side note. I haven't posted in a few months because i was sick of all the bullshit name calling and flaming on here. I thought the punk thread would have been different, but no, the second goddam post was someone flaming punk. Fuck all you stupid ignorant 14 year old wiggers and fucks. "woo im so cool I dress like everyone on TV cuz i cant think for myself" Like really, why the fuck would you come into a thread of something you know you hate in the first place? to pick fights? Like get a fuckin life for fuck sake. You don't see any of us in the rap threads mocking rap so what gives you ignorant pieces of shit. anyway, sorry for that anyone who isn't a retard, just wanted to get that off my chest! LOL
Im an advocate of both genres, and I dont care who you are, if your dressing like everyone else that listens to the same music you do, I think its pretty whack. Whether its hip hop/punk/indie/emo whateva. I mean, you can encorporate shit into your style. I wear patches and buttons and chains on my wallet and all that. But Im not gonna do something just to be more "punk". Ill do it because I think its fresh. But whatever. Thats just me.
Blue Grass I listen to Blue Grass sometimes but you won't catch me chewin' on a piece of wheat or widdlin' on the porch while it's on. Although if someone does, then maybe they just like the taste of it cool
