yeah theres not a single fucking vert park around here it sucks the closest is like 35 minutes away.... so streets all i got. im gonna head out in a little bit its gettin niiice
You think 35 minutes is bad? A few months ago the nearest skatepark street or vert, was about 2 hours away...
damn that suckks dude. eh 35 is an effort, just cuz i dont really care for vert. i only go if like abuncha my friends wanna go, plus its like 20 to get in, and then you gotta wear a helmet...just too much when i can just go outside and roam
when i started about 6 years ago, me and my friend built a 4' mini in his backyard. we used to roll back and forth all day long. eventually we got better, him especially, because it was his ramp. he moved to a new house a couple years ago and we rebuilt the ramp in his garage with a new masonite layer. now every winter we just skate in his garage
yeah my friend lives about 15 minutes away so half the time i have to make do practicing flatland in my small garage, which is not heated at all.
yeah, my garage is full of junk and weights, so theres no room in there it sucks, and then i cant really do much in my basement my ceilings are 6 1/2 feet high. and i learned today that my local "skateshop" if you can call it that, is fucking closing. now i gotta order allll my shit online which sucks....
that sucks... i helped one of my friends start a skateshop downtown, and its doing pretty good so far, i work a couple days each week there. however, the shop is in the "historic" section of town, as the yuppies like to call it, and they keep saying it "detracts from the setting", and all of this other shit i've had to put up with from living here.
yeah, fuck that, if its doing well, they shouldnt be able to take it down. my place was doing terrible, haha, it was mostly a snowbopard/ski shop though, then they have a small skate section in the back. i dunno, im pissed still...
yeah its been around for like atleast 10 years, idk if it was here before i moved, but yeah they just didnt get the buisness they needed..they had liike 8 employees and maybe 5 customers a day...just didnt work out anymore i guess..
with all of these internet stores, people are just starting to neglect their local shops. it's a shame because they're the ones that are staying true to skating.
yeah for real. plus i hate buying anything off the internet, one cuz shipping, and two, you cant see exactly what your getting, so i cant feel the board or see what i want sucks. but whatever...
before the new shop, i would drive 45 minutes away to a real shop so i could buy my boards there. of course, i got my other stuff online, but i know what you mean; you have to get the right feel for the deck.
i agree. no beef with all you guys who love skateboarding, i just think people take it a little too far these days.
true, but graff is just writing your name on things, and it's got an entire subculture to it. that's basically the same as skateboarding being just 'standing on wood'. i'm not pissed or anything, just saying.
yeah, no beef, its more or less, standing up for it when youve got posers coming in "just to be cool" same with graff, like people actually think fucking pac sun, is a skateshop, because they sell element clothes? FUCK THAT its no underground movement...we just wanna differentiate between kids who hold a board, and dress in volcom and element shit just to be cool and the kids who can actually shred.
yea but graff is illeagal, and the comercialisation of an illicit activity to sell is wack, skating is a sport/hobbie so fags claimng its ruind is lame
illegal or not, its still the fact about not wanting poser toys in either. its more than just a hobby. building ships in a bottle is a hobby
