the cap has nothing to do with your can control, the can control is how steadily you can move the can. And stop bumbing old threads!
Try breathing out and holding your breath when you want it to be perfectly straight. That's what I was taught when trying to shoot a gun accurately, worth a shot.
So I've been getting a bunch of requests in my PM box lately on technique tips and shit. Rather than answering individually, I figured I'd just start a little thread with pictoral illustration for all you newjacks out there. Besides, it's raining and I'm bored as fuck stuck inside the house. Everything here was done with regular Krylon, Rusto, mixes and off brand paint with one NY thin cap. No fancy paint or expensive caps are required. This was painted at a bombed out legal wall, also. The first step here is to toss up a sketch on the wall and fill it in. I just did a simple E made out of blocky blobs, and filled it all in. I used Krylon's "Colorworks" brand Sky Blue with a regular NY thin taken off a Krylon Workable Fixatif can. [attachmentid=13383] Step two is to outline it. I used Krylon Flat White with the same NY thin. In order to paint it razor sharp, I overshot the corners. You'll see why I did that later on. [attachmentid=13385] In this step I wanted to pop it off the background a little, so I threw some Rusto Smoke Grey around it. I did the bubbles before putting a border on it to save myself some clean-ups later, and give the Rusto a chance to dry a little in the meantime. You can see that I got as close as possible to the outline while leaving a little space for the border. I used a mixed can of Krylon for this, a purplish grey color that matched the smoke grey pretty well. I would have used black, but I didn't have enough. This was also done with the same NY thin. [attachmentid=13387] Here's a closeup of the border. You can see that I overshot some of the lines here, so i could clean them back up with the outline. For the outside lines, I tried to be as exact as possible, because a lot of the time you can't clean up the corners with the background paint. If you can, by all means rock away. I still haven't done any clean-ups in the fill yet. I always save that for last in case i get any drips or mistakes on the outline work or background. [attachmentid=13389] Here's another closeup of where I overshot the outline doing clean-ups, to get into some small corners. It can be done a bit easier, but not as super crisp, but I wanted to show how to do something as perfect as possible. The border looks as good as it's going to get at this point. You can see on the bottom right where i overshot the fill into the outline, just to get that edge extra crispy. At this point, you should know what to do with that. I overshot again, this time it was a mistake, so I have to go back and fix it. [attachmentid=13393] After fixing it back up with the fill. I decide to throw in a little Krylon Pacific Blue as a lowlight. It wound up being a little too close to the fill color, but I was working with scrap cans. Give me a break. [attachmentid=13395] Here's a close-up so you can see detail. Notice I also overshot the lowlights, so i can clean them up with the fill, as well. I also tried to set the lowlights off the outline a little, to give the letter a rounded, bubbly appearance. Yo, does anyone know anywhere in the UK (preferably around Birmingham) where I can get some tips for my sprays. I cn't find any around where I live cus it's so small. And the usual tips i want are normally sold on the internet and i jst cba. anyone got any tipoffs? PM back
i sketch ma pic in ma blkbook then wen im doin it 2 get straight lines i jus look at the pic n imagine it on the wall so that im kinda jus trasin it on the wall kinda complicated i know but it works for me
   how does that help you get straight lines, the question wasnt how do i get my piece in my black book onto the wall, and making it look the same. It was, how do i get straight lines.
They all LAUGHED when I said playing video games would pay off!LITTLE DID THEY KNOW I WAS BUILDING MY FINGER MUSCLES! THEY WILL ALL CRY AT MY FEET! CRY, I SAY *twitch twitch* Edit: First on lucky page seven, woo!
according to the dicovery channel, the muscles u have in ur fingers arnt used. they say it it comes from ur forearm i say there communists.
all u can do its practice...get a peice of plywood or sumthin in ur backyard or find an abandoned buildin or wall and just practice
CHANGE YOUR NAME MUTHAFUCKA......that's my boy's name..Evoke fym, nsh from Chicag[o....and there's another one in Canada
look, anyonnw who tells you to use tape, cardboard, or wood to get a straight line isn't just a toy, they're a cheatin ass toy. Work on it for a while. you might not feel like you're making an incredible amount of progress. this can take a wicked long time. Also cut your lines.
thats bullshit. using tape or carboard for thin and clean lines isnt cheating. its using the tools you have to excel. and its no substitute for can control either. id like to see you hating bitches try curved clean ultra skinny lines. aint no such thing as cheating. graffiti isnt a test.
Bruce i see where you're coming from with the whole using everything you have to your advantage, But you do not need to use bullshit ass foreign materials. I don't know where you're from, or what kind of scene you got, but here if you pull some tape, or cardboard lines you'll get covered and hated. And i can do skinnier, better looking lines than your tape with two cans of paint. It's called cutting your lines. If you want to make your outline/forcefield extra clean try making it the same color as your background. Let's see your taped cardboard shit man.
that's complete bullshit dude, that's putting down a piece of tape, and spraying all over it. Cutting is about your can control. Now if that doesn't make sense to you it'd prooobably be a good idea to A. Go back to school, or B. Cut your wrists since you can't do it with your spray can.
