i think ur no longer a toy when ur work is "fresh" weather its a black book or on a wall...legally or illegally...and when u can do a common style straight out ur head without sketching it first... i mean das my view
You are no longer a TOY when: 1) You have your own style and other people recognize your "style" 2) You have a lot of can control and have practiced techniques for a long time and can integrate a bunch of different techniques into your painting. 3) People stop fucking writing over you and start copying your style. 4) Older writers give you respect and you get invited into a crew with really good seasoned writers. 5) You stop clowning toys and start helping them out. 6) You know your history and you respect your history. 7) You've beefed and won (a few times). This shit doesn't happen over night. You got to be patient and work on your shit. This is a life long deal. Graff isn't something you do in highschool and then drop.

everyone always says there in it for life and thats a straight up lie. theres probably about 1% of painters that are going to be doing it for life. aside form that part the rest of what u said made sence.
When are you not a toy? When you can look back in old blackbooks and photos and say "damn, I was a toy then...." You can still be a toy, of course, but seeing your mistakes means you're less of a toy. Are there degrees of toy-ness?
yeah, there's toy, tot, and whatevers after that. tot is advanced toy.... but if you have to ask if you're a toy, you're a toy. but just because you think you're not toy doesn't necessarily mean you aren't.
23 years in. i think i can honestly say i've been down for a while. I watched this shit blow up from alleys to galleries. I know a lot of my friends that still write.
