I write Kid Kash I come from Switzerland but I moved to Sweden a few years ago. I started writing around 93 with some school friends. At that time in my city (Lausanne) Graffiti was mysterious and secretive and very linked to Hip Hop culture – every writer could at least do a windmill, some beatbox or rap a verse or two. I was skateboarding and drawing a lot as a kid. My letters and handstyle was super wack but I could draw so I was the “character guy” for the first years of my career. It’s only around 97-98 that I switched focus to painting letters. I have left the characters on the side until now but seeing the new generation of artists actually motivates me to work more on my characters again.

The more I got involved in writing the more I got into Hip Hop. I naturally started breaking with the BBoys we were hanging with and I still break to this day. In the late 90´s me and my friends treated the documentary “Stylewars” as a bible. Puma suede – namebelts – BBoy battles and night mission to write was the cult. But with the new millenium we noticed a shift. The styles and attitude changed. We decided to form the 7$ crew with a few friends who shared the same idea of what a crew is. As a crew we try to perpetuate a certain tradition and a certain style. Later on I got down with other crews like ATT and CAS from Sweden.

My style is of course linked to my journey in the Writing culture and very influenced by the masters that I admired as a young writer. My early influences were locals; Dare TWS of course! and crews like KBC and CMA. Then the New York masters Dondi, TDS, FBA, TC5, TFP and especially Kase2! In Europe, the CTK and Paris 90’s scene and the germans… man, the germans… Today there is too many dope writers to name them all but I like to see people who paint classic graffiti and still keep it interesting and modern. I think about Dmote, Jurne, Druid, Serval, and the Germans… again. I love seeing old masters still burning kids with the old formula like Part, wane, Serve, Keo, Dash, Secret, Bates… And writers who made their own rules and keep it fresh like Sawe, Sin OBS, Miami NFK, Eliote, Wxyz… Averall I love breakin and music and my style is very influenced by that – if I see no rhythm in a sketch I will never paint it.

For me a good piece is bold and funky it has movement and dynamic it shouldn’t be too perfect or too clean. I am a chill dude but I keep a BBoy attitude when I paint… I want to burn! you can be my best friend if you paint next to me I ll try my best to burn you!
