MOKSA (Hartford) Graffiti Writer Spotlight

What’s good Bombing Science, I’m MOKSA RK or otherwise known as MOCK ONE. I am from a small town about 2 hours north of NYC, but i do most of my painting in Connecticut. I started putting paint on walls about 9 years ago, but my first real introduction to Graffiti was actually about 17 years ago when i was in high school by a close friend and writer EXIST TBM. He introduced me to the culture in my area, and the history that was here. Writers like EMIT, JIVE, JICK, OUIJA, REO, RAGE3, KEM, GESER and EWOK to name a few, all had pieces relatively close to my hometown, and seeing some of their pieces in person was a huge inspiration for me.

During college i got up with dudes like BARNES, STOATS, OSTEO and OYSTA, and these dudes really lit a fire under my ass about painting! After coming home from college I started to get serious about finding my style. I started painting with local CT guys like ZEROS, CURSE, REVENGE, GELI, PACER, BEAT, SYKE2, CREDIT, OPUS, ClASS , THE HICRU and literally countless other writers. Needless to say these guys were all huge inspirations in both level of talent, and work ethic.

ZEROS and I linked up in 2012, he and I have painted god knows how many walls together over the years. I have had the opportunity to travel to many different cities to paint at different jams and events with him and the RECKIN KREW out of Chicago, another group of super talents that he introduced me to, it is also the crew that he and i both rep.

My style was heavily influenced by all these local writers, as well NYC writers, and many European writers as well. I try to incorporate a lot of traditional elements into my work, but i also really enjoy abstract ideas as well, so you can see a lot of that in there as well. Lately I have been experimenting with a more illustrative style, and trying to keep everything i do somewhat loose. It’s all about the letters, and how far you are willing to take them, the real trick is determining where the line is, and how well you are able to blur it.

I feel very fortunate to have met many talented writers over the years, so many of them being from my immediate area. You’ve all had a huge impact on my life!
