Interview by Dan James

Bombing Science: Alright the standards. What do you write? Who do you rep’? Favorite paint color and maker and favorite object to paint?

Omega: Omega 101, SIK Aka Sick Familia. Ultra flat black krylon. Complete graff package. Letters, characthers, backgrounds. Legal or illegal, streets, freeways, freights whatever.
BSCI: You’ve been writing for awhile if I’m correct. Any reflections on how the scene itself has changed? How the national scene has changed?
Omega: Correct, eighteen years this summer. It’s changing, it’s gonna’ continue to change. Artists are always seeking to evolve to the next level and conquer new spots. Re-creating and creating their own style by self-expression and creative passion.

BSCI:  I’ve seen you hop around Compton and Oakland, ever run into any trouble?
Omega: Been chased out a few yards, had a few guns pulled on me. I knocked around a few twicks that tried to shake me down. Here’s a memorable graff expirience; back in 97′ after three years of trying to catch a rooftop next to Highway 4, North 99 I finally found a way up. So I’m on the roof no longer than fifteen or twenty minutes when the chopper spots me and starts to talk beep. With the spotlight on me I look around and see no cops so I continue to paint my work, the way I see it this chopper punk wants me he has to land and chase me. A few minutes pass by and the rollers start showing up so I threw my paint and run down the rooftop. I jump down two stories and popped my right ankle out of it’s socket. I ran sixty yards next to the highway, and one cop cuts me off on the ramp and let’s his K-9 out. So I’m trapped between the higway gate with this K-9 behind me so I hop the gate and pierce my right hand on the wire. I ran across six highway lanes calling freinds that lived in the area, and as luck would have it one of my boys was leaving a kick back party nearby. So he swoops in and I pull a James Bond move hopping down into his backseat through the window. As we get to the intersection six cops roll up with lights on to where I was just picked up thirty seconds ago. Was all that worth it, hell yeah. My unfinished rooftop work repped’ for ten years strong. It broke my heart to see it get buffed but it ran into history and made for a good story. To this day no one else has been able to catch that same rooftop.
BSCI: What’s the 101? Just part to a letter combonation or does it hold any specific meaning to you?
Omega: 101 is a bibical prophecy of the anti-christ and the revelation of the religions and the governments over which they hold sway. A text of armageddon, I use it to seperate myself from other Omegas.

BSCI: How do you feel about east coast graff and the difference between styles? Do you think it has something to do with local influence?
Omega: When I think of east coast graff it takes me back to my childhood. I grew up with the hip-hop elements; DJin’, B’Boyin’ and MCin’ all around me. The difference is just tradition. West coast graff follows cholo caligraphic writing and east coast follows it’s roots. The way I see it we’re all part of the same scene just too many points of view to explain.
BSCI: Dig the crew name, Satan’s Immortal Kreations. Any story behind it or it was just fuckin’ metal?
Still In Kontrol is the original meaning. As we expanded and evolved we upgraded it to reflect our style. Keepin’ it evil, I’m not down with satan he’s down with me.
BSCI: Your style actually reminds me of another crew from around you I’m fairly sure. Nightmare’s Come True, ever run into them?
Omega: Run into them yeah I knew a few of them before they joined NCT. Some moved on to other crews or other things and some still rep’ NCT. None the less my respect to them.

BSCI: Where do you see graffiti heading in the next few years, with regard to both style and marketability?
Omega: We can agree that graffiti is an important development of a visually distinctive style that will continue to develop as will the marketability within the graff world. New oppritunities for more artists, maybe I’ll catch mine one day. If not I’ll just keep moving forward.
BSCI: Here’s a little rapid fire section:
1.) Freddy or Jason? Freddy
2.) Beach or the Avenue? The Avenue
3.) Seen or Tempt? Seen
4.) Slayer or Anthrax? Slayer
5.) God or no God? No God
BSCI: Cali has an such a great wealth of writers, some of the guys you’ve done productions with. Anyone you’d really wanna get up with?
Omega: I’m down to paint with any artist that is down to let me rep’ with them.
BSCI: Has there been a point where it became too much, like it felt like it wasn’t worth it anymore?
Omega: Drama wise I don’t pay any attention. I could care less about anyone else’s opinion. The way I see it if you ignore them they will self-destruct. I live for graff, it’s the only way to express my way of life. I’ve been around graff before I even decided to get involved with the game. It’s a stress-reliever and an adventure.

BSCI: What’s in the stereo these days?
Omega: The death of our pop king Micheal Jackson. Cruising in my 1970 Skylark listening to 2-Pac, Immortal Technique and the oldies. You can’t go wrong with the oldies.
BSCI: Who were your major influences coming up?
Omega: Creative artists in general.
BSCI: Have you gotten a chance to hit the west coast M.O.S.? Cause I’d say you have the skills for it?
Omega: I’ll be painting at the upcoming event this year and thanks.

BSCI:  How you feeling about the Governator? Helping or hurting the state?
Politics and religion, too many points of view. I just try to avoid the subjects.
BSCI: Any favortie spots out there to hit? Any famous one’s like Belmont you’ve hit?
Omega: Belmont, wished I had more time to paint that day I was there. Crazy good memories.
BSCI: Where do you see your style in a few years? Where do you see your self within the writing culture?
Omega: Evolving into a more creative style, playing with more color schemes. In the writing culture I’ll just take it step by step and see where it leads to.

BSCI: Anything you want to let people know about, you and the crew might be doing? And of course shout anyone you want to shout.
Omega: First off I’d like to thank you Dan James for this interview. As for the crew we’ll continue to rep’ those black and rags. Stay loyal and keep doing our thing. I want to dedicate this interview to my Sick Familia worldwide. Shiver/Temper and the HNR Clicka, can’t forget my homies Augor MSK and Reload Eyos Crew.
