Yo it’s Osek KFW. I grew up in Massachusetts and live in the Bay Area now. I lived by an isolated train yard when I was in Mass, and started painting trains not long after I started writing in 2007. Recently I’ve been hunting certain types of trains and pushing myself to explore the US more, while still staying active on the lines.
Stylewise, my early influences were circle T crew and assorted wild styles I would see on trains and local spots. Learning to break up letters into small pieces and move those around is what helped me develop the styles I have now. At some point it is a bit unreadable and I’m just having fun with the pieces and shapes, but that’s all that matters to me.
The freight scene these days is definitely a bit crowded and there are a lot of new people that don’t know what they are doing at the yard, and won’t last. But there are also a lot of new trains coming out that are nice to paint and make it worth it to teach newer writers and try to save the spots.
My goal is to paint all types of freight cars and stay active for as long as possible, balancing quality and quantity and always enjoying the session.
