PAC ONER – I started writing graffiti in 2007. I am originally from Morocco, but I live in Italy in a village somewhere between Milano and Bergamo. When I started, I didn’t have many references, I used to spend my days walking around Bergamo looking for tags around the city, taking photos of them and trying to understand the scene of my area. Although there were some very strong crews in town, I never wanted to adapt myself to the most common styles, so it was the natural way for me, without even knowing that was the right direction, to find my proper Style.
In my opinion, the illegal part of Writing Graffiti is fundamental. It forces you to grow fast, turn around and compare yourself and your works with the others. In one period of my life, I did some strong bombing in My city and around it, but after a while it was not enough for me to have my name written everywhere – I also wanted it written better than most of the people. So, for me, style has always been an aspect to carry on in any situation.
Even if I was not popular in my area, I have always admired the West Coast style, particularly the intertwined letters and the tips, without letting myself take too much influence from it. My goals have always been to be immediately recognizable, even if I am doing different things, and to have fun and take advantage of all the possible tools in favor of my letters, such as graphic concepts, illustrations and visual communication concepts.
I love letters, but I also love drawing, which I have done for as long as I can remember, and now my letters have become a tool through which I can rework and express my vision of the world. For this reason, I love testing out my letters through different themes and concepts. You have to try them all and create new ones! I think each Piece I make should be an innovation compared to the previous ones, so I am always looking for new concepts to apply… and not just on the walls.
Graffiti, like any other discipline evolves time – it is conditioned and changes what we have around us, and in my own way, I want to evolve in it and with it.
