Soak (Portsmouth) Graffiti Writer Spotlight

Hi I’m SOAK.

I am a 29 year old writer from the south coast in Portsmouth, UK.

I write SOAK for the simple fact I like the letters and the way they flow. I mainly use SK for my throws. My crew is TEC and i’m also in the MLC crew.

I first picked up a can around 4 or 5 years ago and have been hooked since! After a slow first year of messing around with a few different names and sketching a lot, I settled with SOAK SK and I haven’t stopped painting since. I quickly became addicted!

I painted solo for the first 2 years until I met a few local writers and they soon became good friends. They were my main source of inspiration as I was growing as a writer, painting with them and learning from them.

I have met a lot of good people along the way, I love travelling around and painting new spots in new places. I managed to paint in a few different countries last year including Australia, Indonesia and Holland, with many more in the pipeline.

I could go on and on about graffiti artists that I look up to and that inspire me, but my top two have to be BOOGIE and HOACS. Both constantly chucking out amazing walls, definitely two styles I love.

I enjoy painting characters and trying new things but I’m a writer so it’s mainly all about the letters! I have been playing around with some neon bits in my pieces recently. I know I didn’t create the idea, but I thought i’d give it a go and it’s been fun! I have so many ideas and plans for it.

I get inspiration from graff I see but I try to be as original as I can with my style. I generally keep it quite simple and clean,but over time I have started adding more and more and keep adding new things. I’m looking forward to what the future holds, but in the meantime, I’m just gonna keep painting, experimenting and having fun.

I’ve got to give a massive shout out to my crews, some good friends and people I paint with the most.
