I first started SOKEM writing in 1988 just doodling on paper & tagging mostly but probably didn’t start painting properly until around 1992. Born & bred in Bristol, UK. The scene here was strong through the 80’s so a big part of my influences came from writers like 3d (massive attack) inkie cheo & junks, along with the obligatory spray can & subway art books. I guess nowadays most of my inspiration comes from older pieces I’ve done & the people in my crew. I think as a letter writer, for most of us anyway, it’s quite hard to constantly switch it up so it tends to be more of an evolutionary process. Although I often feel I should move on from letters, I always come back to it, you just can’t beat a good classic wild style..
