I write SPIKOE coming from the great state of TEXAS where every city has legends! Liked by few hated by many, and steady-going nowhere…..
Painting for pretty much more than half my life, I literally grew up obsessed with letters and hand styles. Brought up in the gang-infested streets of El Paso it was all I saw! Gangster ass Cholo script and Block Letters.
I really didn’t know a lot about graff, but was swallowed in by that life in order to survive. Sounds corny but Graffiti literally saved my life! After leaving my hometown of Chuko to Austin where my life literally changed! I was able to walk around and basically just not get shot at. Don’t get me wrong, I love my city and I learned a lot from it! Big ups to the Loks and Tribe heads there that basically showed me the ropes!!
Seeing the different aspects of letters and hand styles in Austin was amazing as well. It is pretty much what gave me my style, known as the Organic Style. I met a lot of heads that now are my brothers, and made me who I am! Special shout to my Lower Classers and the DAC Family for believing in me from the start!! Living in Austin I was so close to other big cities and that was a blessing, being able to meet huge influences and Top Notch Crew’s/writers from San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and of course my hometown of El Paso just molded me! Big ups to my BY, RTD, and the IGK’s for letting me represent them! All these guys are still huge Influences to me. Just to name a few Texan influences: Pause Spoter Labor Duo Seks War Spie Color Gems Cider Lingo Flako Jade Nekst Worms Kews Jesse Supher Coro Gew Shewp Sloke and my little buddies Headr Kuhr and Years….. Wuddup to all the RTD’S !!!!
I’m always reminded of who and why I am painting and that is for the LOVE and FUN of it… not letting politics, pressure, and drama sway me which in my opinion ruins Graffiti…… still just an old punk and hip hop head staying humble and hungry! Never forgetting where I came from…..
