Echo – I’ve been writing since the 80’s.
I was born in Manhattan and grew up in Staten Island. The first burner I ever saw was a Lask piece. I was blown away. All I wanted to do was write. Coming up I really admired guys like Basic 5 ,Rin TVS , Beno, too many to name. Skope2’s work was so ahead of his time and his boy Once had the best characters I had ever seen. I went to highschool with Hops and Stem YNN . Those guys could draw anything and paint it. Their influence made me want to get better and better. Went to highschool with Phase 2’s (RIP) daughter also, that’s how I met him. He would put my pics in his magazine IGT. I was star struck when I met him, Comet and Blade. Around 90- 91 in the Bronx, thanks to Pepe, I got down with UW (King Bee, Nevs, Edec, Merk, etc). Rush and Tyke TFO, Bom5 MW. Jew and Cine BT. They were all legends to me. I was out there everyday painting. Cope, Jew, Cine, and Tyke crushed the streets back then. I lived with Ces in the Bronx in 95 and painted a lot with Vet TMC. He was where I got all my paint from too. He racked everything. Even deodorant. He was doing Burners on the streets with no permission those days. He was an animal. I met and painted with Kemos and Rime in the late 90’s cuz I had family around their way. Those guys are always getting funky.
From 99 to 03 I stayed in Amsterdam, Holland, and as soon as I got there I met BB crew. Ski, Dr.Jay, Panic, Dixi, Sel, Set, Kraze, Suez, Juice, Mickey TFP too many to name. Ski was up everywhere and super humble like everyone else I met out there. I was hanging out with legends like Shoe. Everyone showed mad love. Amsterdam was destroyed. Couldn’t believe how much Graff there was.
Around 08 I almost got caught in Germany doing trains with this maniac who only does trains. Capsol. I don’t know how we got away. Was a miracle. That guys crazy.
Since 03 I’ve been rocking with Goal RTH. Another lunatic.. This year we’ve been putting in a lot of work. He says I’m the only writer that has my own style because everyone got their style from someone else. But he’s crazy so I wouldn’t listen to him.
I think my style is unique and is always evolving but I don’t like to steer too far from tradition. To me Graff is still all about the letters. And having your own style. Everything else comes after that.
