Interview with Gnasher

Gnasher as we all no you used to be a DJ what made you concentrate on murals?

Well I kinda gave up in 98 when I went on a backpacking rampage, although I did DJ in Thailand a few times. After travelling I did start again with no real success unlike my old DJ mate and good friend Mark Radford who is now top of his game. 2009 I started painting again and music took a back seat.

You mainly do murals or characters who has been your favorite one to do and why? 
 

It’s gotta be the Rik Mayall as he was my idol for so many program. To paint him in his hometown was a wicked and for the BBC to do a feature on it was the nuts, that really started my mural career…. I was contemplating getting a real job until then.
 

 

Who has been you biggest influence and why?
 

It’s either Smug or Belin…. I can’t decide who is best , they are both dope 

We have started to see a trend starting with you we had you dressed up as batman for batman piece darth vader for Star Wars piece and cookie monster for cookie monster piece what can we expect you dressed as next?

Well that would be saying … I’m doing a porn wall soon so maybe naked …. Again 

What has been your most embarrassing piece?
 

New Urban Era last year…. I painted mystique and made her face look like a rat elf, I tried to make up with it with the boobs…. It’s pretty much deleted off the internet 

What’s your favorite colab and anything planned for future?

Aaaaah there’s been so many , I’ve done some great colabs, maybe the Megatron wall with Neyec and Izer

Can you name 3 artists that are up and coming to watch out for?

Banksy….. Nah Ments, Loki and AsOne, they are from my crew in norwich, I would name them all but you only said three , norwich gets over looked.

What’s your favorite brand of paint?
 

Well I go through stages , at the moment I’m trying to convert to Montana Gold but paint is paint
